I think it depends less on height but more on your other jewelries, clothing style and perhaps your “vibe” (haha sorry for lack of word to describe). I’m only 5’2” and small framed but I have this necklace in he large, and generally look better with more substantial jewelry (eg regular JUC instead of small).
I totally agree with this! Almost all of my jewelry pieces are small / dainty as that’s what I love and I prefer understated styles for handbags and clothings as well. I think that’s why the small size of this necklace works so well for my overall style.

I like big stones typically; e-ring, diamond studs for example. But I prefer daintier jewelry otherwise, balance I guess. I totally prefer the small, it’s so wearable casual and dressy.

Another consideration—the angle at which you’ve taken the pictures really affects how large the pendant looks. Because you’ve taken the photos up close and from below, it’s making both seem large on you. From farther away, they look smaller. Here are 2 photos of the large D’Amour on me, I’m 158cm.

it looks amazing on you! and you are right.. the angle was not perfect.... justing thinking about it - yes, 90% of the time i would wear it alone, so - i guess the answer is obvious :)

I think it really depends on individual preference. I say go with your gut. I personally think the large shows too much metal. If you're truly considering the large, I'd say look into the c de cartier. Much better purchase and you can find something more substantial for just a bit more funds. I recently had purchased a .50ct but exchanged it for a .29ct in WG. retailed for $3450 before tax. (included a photo for refrence)

I also have the d'amore bracelet in both YG and WG and like you, I was contemplating on sizes initially purchased the small but thought it was too large for the look I was going for, so ended up getting a XS in both. I absolutely love them!!

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your decision.

Hi! Not too sure if it is too late for me to weigh in on this "happy problem" but coincidentally, I was deliberating about this a while ago too! Like you, I'm also looking to wear this necklace on its own (most of the time at least).

I'm 178 cm (5'10) and eventually got it in large size.

After standing at a distance from the mirror and comparing both, the large size had a "wee" bit more presence especially when worn on its own but still looks dainty enough to me. The large size works well for layering too. I also think that the large model will age well with me (possibly when I get older and my neck size gets bigger ;p). While up close, I do find that the metal part for the diamond setting is more visible, which I don't prefer, but from far, it doesn't seem that obvious...so I made my peace with it. Overall, it is versatility and long term wearability consideration that sealed the deal for me

Having said that, it is really still about proportions... So, I think you can definitely try judging both sizes from a distance without stacking them and assess them individually.

I look forward to hearing what you got eventually!
