I think I confused people reviving my old thread! In my other thread I asked those of you for help deciding what I should get for a wedding present - Cartier Love bracelet, Cartier Watch or a Rolex.

I ended up getting the Cartier Love thanks to DF  and I also got a Rolex watch from my Dad . Since I got my wedding present a little early, I thought, why not get DF's gift early too? Even though I had gotten DF a watch last year for his bday, it wasn't a brand name watch. He didn't like the leather strap either - it gets uncomfortable during hot summer days, so I felt it was time for a new one.

Sooo. . .I decided to get him the GMT Master II (he couldn't stop talking about it once he found out Jay-Z gave them out to his engineers for his latest album). Here are some pics:

I also got DF some NATO straps from Maratec/Zulu so he could wear his watch a la James Bond. He really likes vintage Rolexes, but I refused to get him one. For his wedding present I wanted to get him a brand new watch. The SA didn't quite encourage me to do this and told me Rolex wouldn't change out the strap for me since the strap is considered aftermarket, but as long as we put the original link bracelet back on for servicing, it shouldn't void the warranty.

Here is a pic of DF with the Bond strap on (we put it on thanks to watching youtube videos):

I could tell DF was very in  with his new watch because as he left my house eyes glued it, he actually tripped on the walkway :roflmfao:! I totally cracked up and couldn't stop laughing - it was so cute and dorky!

If anyone is interested, this was his old watch I got him for his bday last year:

I bet DF loved it!!! GORGEOUS!

Thank you everyone!!! You guys are so sweet! :hugs:

Oh! There is my modeling pic! I love how excited he was! Which strap do you think he'll wear day to day?

I got him an olive green strap with gunmetal stainless steel rings and the striped bond strap. I think he'll wear the NATO straps more because he feels the link bracelet is too "flashy" (the middle links of the bracelet are really shiny and not brushed like the sides). His family is very disapproving of name brand items so he's hoping they won't notice his new Rolex for a while if it's on a nylon strap haha.

I'm sure he'll switch to the bracelet on more formal occasions. The good thing about not wearing the bracelet is that it'll keep better and won't suffer from daily wear and tear.

Fabulous! Isn't it a nice feeling when you get your man something that he loves so much? Mine is still thanking me for his anniversary present, 6 months later!

Aww thank you periogirl!!! May I ask, what did you get your SO??

awwww, this is so sweet. i love how thoughtful you are to each other. the watch is the bomb! my DH also wants a submariner or GMT and i kinda like the GMT more! it just has a little more going on (the green hand, the contrasted links, etc). great choice!!! i'm so glad he loves the watch. congrats!!!
