I think I confused people reviving my old thread! In my other thread I asked those of you for help deciding what I should get for a wedding present - Cartier Love bracelet, Cartier Watch or a Rolex.
I ended up getting the Cartier Love thanks to DF
and I also got a Rolex watch from my Dad
. Since I got my wedding present a little early, I thought, why not get DF's gift early too? Even though I had gotten DF a watch last year for his bday, it wasn't a brand name watch. He didn't like the leather strap either - it gets uncomfortable during hot summer days, so I felt it was time for a new one.
Sooo. . .I decided to get him the GMT Master II (he couldn't stop talking about it once he found out Jay-Z gave them out to his engineers for his latest album). Here are some pics:
I also got DF some NATO straps from Maratec/Zulu so he could wear his watch a la James Bond. He really likes vintage Rolexes, but I refused to get him one. For his wedding present I wanted to get him a brand new watch. The SA didn't quite encourage me to do this and told me Rolex wouldn't change out the strap for me since the strap is considered aftermarket, but as long as we put the original link bracelet back on for servicing, it shouldn't void the warranty.
Here is a pic of DF with the Bond strap on (we put it on thanks to watching youtube videos):
I could tell DF was very in
with his new watch because as he left my house eyes glued it, he actually tripped on the walkway
! I totally cracked up and couldn't stop laughing - it was so cute and dorky!
If anyone is interested, this was his old watch I got him for his bday last year:
