Depop Seller Rant - Am I being unreasonable?

A friend fell for a new scam, if the postman comes, they are not in, then they put a redelivery request in but way into the future, won't fly with eBay or Depop, but if they pay via PayPal they can claim the item has not been delivered, even if it shows the redelivery request, all that counts for PP is that at that point in time it has not been delivered...
That sounds horrendous!!!!! Didn't know that was possible!
 
Sorry to hear about your experience. I am about to get rid of my depop. The app itself is great, easy to use, a nice site to post creative photos and for a while it seemed better than poshmark or ebay because it didn’t attract loads of scammers at first...but that seems to have changed. If they can’t offer photos for an item they are selling that just seems scketchy. I also just had a buyer go to their bank and open up a dispute/chargeback saying their purchase was “unauthorized” months after they received the item so buyers can scam you as well. Depop does take action by banning scammers if something goes wrong.

I'm sorry to hear you're getting rid of your Depop! I do really like the app, and it's just so user friendly...shame, it could be such a great platform!! I decided not to buy in the end just because I was so annoyed at the seller:biggrin:

Well, PP will only check if it was delivered, so if they put the redelivery request 4 weeks later in, it seems a "gap" as the UK system then gives a message that they tried to deliver and the redelivery request was received, but for PP that is not proof of delivery, so the seller loses out. Since it was an expensive item, she is taking the buyer to court for fraud
 
I’ve just started selling on Depop. I find it so much easier to use than eBay or Etsy, but the client base is really young, so I’m worried my higher-priced items are not gonna sell very fast.

I really hope karma gets these people. The buyer I mentioned filed a second chargeback. I can’t believe PayPal would take money out twice and that their bank would just agree to do that.

I have been on hold with PayPal for an hour. This is completely ridiculous. They do nothing to help. Since depop was helpful and deleted the user right away I’m hoping they can do something. There’s obviously a huge problem between PayPal and banks with chargebacks and the sellers suffer for it. It’s supposed to be a safe platform. I don’t know what to do now.

My friend sold on eBay, they checked into it and saw there was a delivery attempt and a redelivery ordered by the buyer, so they declined the charge back, but with PP they can do it for up to 6 months and by then the post office will have deleted the info from the system... Stuff you just don't know until somebody falls for one of the scammers

I’m sorry for your friend that’s awful! Glad to hear ebay was helpful and declined the chargeback. I will definitely be taking screen shots and keeping all postage receipts in case anything like this happens again! Also update: PayPal finally refunded the two chargebacks. Again I hope karma gets the thieves.

If you have their addresses still, I would send the scammers a brick and not put enough postage on it
