You don't have to. If you have a pretty ring (costume) around that is not too large, you could start with that and see if you even like using a ring. I don't use one all the time.

I am waiting for my MaiTai's petite scarf ring. I really wanted something to use with all the pochettes that I have collected. I was able to use them with the fur collars and that made me very happy!
Mai Tai looks so adorable with her twilly around her neck, but I think I would feel a little confined. I've used mine on my Kelly, but I was concerned about color transfer in the humidity! I don't even know if that happens, but I wouldn't take a chance 
I think it is too hot in FL or CA to be using the twilly around your neck. In warm weather I tie the twill or pochette on my bag.
But, do you think in the So. FL. humidity, there might be a color transfer to the handles? I just sort of tie it on, and loop it over, but not in a bow!
