Hello Hermes lovers!!

I have come to a decision crossroads and would love it if you lovely ladies can help me. I always love hearing your different points of view.

my current H collection is as follows:
B30 barenia fauve GHW
B30 etoupe PHW
c18 blue indigo RGHW
c18 quebracho Permabrass HW

These were all bought on the resale market and I have since thought ‘stuff this, for my next bag I am going to work on a store relationship because this addiction is getting too expensive’

so I am working towards a black retourne kelly 25 GHW as an evening/ date night bag.

now then - decision time. To raise the funds I am thinking of selling my only 1 remaining Chanel classic flap in my collection caviar, black, silver hardware. To be honest I have gone right off Chanel and it’s not a style I am even drawn to anymore. But it does tick the box for a black evening bag, which I may not get from H for a while. I have only just started my relationship at the store a few months ago and just approaching a 1:1 ratio.

is it foolish to sell the Chanel? Or should I go for it on the basis that it is not a style I am reaching for and put it into my pre spend and fingers crossed I get a replacement black evening back before too long??

I know if I sold it I would never buy it back with the prices as they are.

I am aware many of my H bags are more casual colours. I don’t have anything with a formal look at the moment. The most formal is the c18 in blue indigo.

I traded a flap for an H bag because I was over that Chanel look, and have regretted it ever since as I can never buy it back. I don't have a black evening bag right now bigger than my Mini Kelly or my WOC, or smaller than a K28 (my K25s are not black). I am always, and I mean always, wishing I had a small black bag with more capacity than the mini K when I go out.
Keep your Chanel until you are offered the K25. It won't take long to sell the Chanel once you have the Kelly. And it's a very useful bag.

I totally agree with QF. The whole H bag supply chain (!) is all messed up right now due to the protracted pandemic. A lot of boutiques are apparently telling clients that they may not be getting more bags in before year end. I haven't personally heard this, so can't vouch for the accuracy, but it is clear that things are very much n flux right now and we have no way of knowing when things will right themselves again. You could end up selling your Chanel bag and not be able to replace it for months. You definitely don't want to be spending all that time if there is no bag in sight! Keep the Chanel and sell it once you have the Kelly of your dreams!

I wouldn’t do it the Chanel classic flap will only increase in price. You already have so many Hermes bags abs soon you will have your Kelly.

Id be careful with selling CF. Chanel is allegedly heading towards H model of purchasing (buy other things/build a relationship before being „offered” a classic flap. Whilst this might be not be true, their price increases wont make repurchase appealing. I sold all chanels before thinking i only want Hermes, but eventually found im missing the fashion vibe of their bags ans repurchased at Kelly price

I sold all my Chanel bags and do regret not keeping my classic black flap. I think a Chanel flap is more of an evening/dressy bag than a Kelly anyway. Could you sell one of your Constances if funds is an issue? C18 are popular and commend a high resell price. I have quite a low number that I keep, then I feel `I have too many bags and rehome one. But others won't let any Hermes bag go ever. Its all down to personal choice, and how many bags you need for your lifestyle. I agree with others in that H supplies are really low this year and you are after the most in demand size/specifications, so you may not be offered a K25 this year. Keep your Chanel.

I am holding on to my only Chanel flap for all the reasons mentioned above but find I am not using it at all. I think it is debatable whether that makes any sense.

If you can, keep the Chanel flap until you have your Kelly. It might take quite some time until you get a chance to purchase one through the boutique. Also, it makes sense to use the Kelly a few times before you decide that it should be your one and only evening bag. Many people find the opening / closing fiddly, especially in the retourne style and with softer leathers. I have one and love it to bits, but it is more tedious to open/close than a classic flap.
