Presently, I am in discussion with BGD for a DBTY but am having difficulty to decide the size of the melees. I have been visiting some jewelers around town but can't seem to find one who has this in their inventory.

Anyone who has a DBTY necklace with either one of melee size can post a neck shot for me? I need visual help! TIA!

You should be able to find images if you do a search on TPF. There are quite a few. I'd probably go for at least 1/5 of a carat unless you're fond of dainty jewelry, and in that case I'd definitely go to Tiffany & Co. (before the price increases). Whiteflash, T&CO, and Bluenile always have them in stock. You could even find a reproduction in CZ quite easily on Evesaddiction or Overstock.com. You'll get a better price online.

I have tried the search function but whatever images I have found are the 0.05ct and 0.08ct which are not what I have in mind! Thx anyway!

Just for your info, BGD (Brian Gavin Diamonds) is an online vendor and he, Brian, was the inventor of ACA of Whiteflash. He has now left WF to set up his own diamond company. So I can trust that he will provide his excellent signature H&A diamonds which for me, cut is a priority for this DBTY necklace rather than a name brand.

I'm getting one through them as well! I was going to do .14, but decided to go with a .17 for an extra $100. I tried on the .08, .12, and .14 at tiffanies. You'd be surprised how large they look. .14 was getting awfully darn blingy. I know there is a post on here were someone has a .12 and someone else in the same thread has a .26 I think. I can tell you.10 is kinda small. I am super thin with a long whin neck and .12 probably would be perfect for me for an understated piece. .14 is perfect for a noticeable piece, and I'm going with .17 just cause I don't want to suffer from shrinkage..lol.

Wow skphotoimages, you have to come back with pics when you received your necklace! You can't go wrong with BGD. I have studs from them and they sparkles like mad!

I envy you for being able to check out the looks on these melees. I would use this necklace for a blingy monstrous pearl with pave snake cap, so I don't want the melees to be too blingy to overwhelm the pendant but at the same time I don't want them too small too! But from your description, I am tending to .12 or .15 max. Arrrrgggh decision, decision!

ETA: If you don't mind me asking, how many diamonds on what length, are you doing?

For those of you using Brian Gavin, can you tell me if he is shipping to your home or are you having to go to the UPS facility to pick up your item?
When I ordered from Whiteflash, I had to go to UPS facility (no other option available) and it was a gigantic pain. It was enough so that I have never ordered from them again.

:woohoo: I'm so glad I found this thread! I went to the website and I LOVE all his designs and they are so reasonably priced. I can't wait to make a wishlist. :graucho:

Ain't their website great? Brian and Lesley are wonderful to work with, it doesn't matter how big or small your project is, they work to please, fantastic customer service!

Thanks for the links, going to check them out now!

skphotoimages, just sent you a PM!

Ship to home.
Also I wanted to add, at one point I was going to just have my original .47 ct diamond remounted into this necklace, White flash REFUSED because it wasn't certified. (in a way I understand, but it ticked me off anyhow) BGD was only going to charge a small reseting fee.

Kitsunergrl, I can't say about the US side if you are in US. I am overseas Switzerland to be exact and Brian has always sent to my home. Perhaps you want to check with BGD? Or maybe some else will chime in on this!

I've been looking at the elsa peretti DBTY necklaces and are so put off by the prices. I was thinking about doing sterling silver (prices are more reasonable), but all the knowledgeable posters here tell me to do gold or pt because the metals are more durable. I don't think I'll be getting any jewelry for a while (we just made a BIG purchase!) but I'll keep BGD in mind for the future. Thanks again megeve12 :D
