I thought diamonds couldn't be set in silver since it's too soft? Or at least it isn't recommended? Anyone knows?

I can't imagine they will be set with diamonds as silver is too soft. It will be interesting to see what the details are.

There is an abundance of diamond/silver jewelry in the market now. I think it has become fairly common practice in the past few years.

i just now had a silver stacking ring made with a little diamond in the middle ... the jeweler didnt say anything about it not being hard enough.

btw - im totally not some crazy silver + diamond fanatic!! my e-ring is platinum and my wedding band will be platinum and diamonds ... i just think that diamonds look great in all kinds of metals right now!

i think the high-low look of silver and diamonds is actually really neat. i have a small pair of earings that i think are ss and they have diamonds in eahc earing. v cool and refreshing.

I would rather believe this is some strategy Tiffany have to do in this economy downturn. Since they dont do the sales as other companies, and high end jewelry not selling well, they need to give incentive for customers to buy and bring business. I personally feel some new designs released since the end of 08 are priced lower than I expected. When the economy turns better, they can always raise price.
