Although I am a Tiffany fan I'm not sure I like this... I think it "cheapens" the original DBTY collection

The price point is more affordable though - starting at $395.

ive actually been really looking for something like this ... i cant afford the platinum one and id love a bracelet so this might be perfect! i hope they sell them in australia.
i personally love silver ... when shined up its amazing!

may i ask why is that? i own a lovely tiffany heart ring with a diamond in the middle .... its silver and it sure wasnt cheap ... why do you think it cheapens the range? Not trying to be rude, just trying to understand why people might think that?

i think some folk are worried about the "exclusivity" factor. T&Co was too, that's why they started pricing their stuff up...

If T&co becomes too "affordable" in the affordable luxury area, and anyone can own it, then what is there to brag about, eh?

Plus, not everyone can tell at a glance what type metal is used. Unless you're announcing it, people won't know. IDK, until DH bought me my first T&co piece while we were dating, I had no idea T&co carried stuff normal people could afford.

ETA: depending on price points, i'd love a bracelet!

^^ What she said. On one hand it is great that they now offer an affordable option but the company can't make itself too accessible or it takes away from their brand image. The thing is they want to sell more silver because there are higher margins but that doesn't mean they should make everything in silver. The whole idea of carrying silver was to bring in customers and hook them on the Tiffany brand so later on down the line they will graduate to fine jewelry customers. In my opinion right now they are just looking for a short term fix so they can satisfy their shareholders. More and more designs are lacking imagination. This new business model isn't sustainable and eventually people will stop shopping there because their designs will begin to look like everyone elses. I'm glad I got out when I did, I hate to say it but that company is going down hill.

I used to think really highly of Tiffany, but maybe that was because I was younger, and starting to collect jewellery. The silver range is certainly affordable enough to buy into a share of Tiffany's brand image. But nowadays, as much as I like some of the statement pieces like the Schlumberger range, I think twice about buying diamond jewellery from Tiffany's. To me, the brand isn't on the same level as the haute joaillier like Van Cleef, Cartier, and Winston.

oh well, i guess im in the minority then ... im very glad they did it cause i dont like yellow metals so my only other option was the platinum DBTY (as they dont do white gold) and i felt it was WAY over priced.
Im in the midst of getting a silver and small diamond stacking band made ... i think its a great metal.

I get the whole tiffany thing - i think the fact that they dont go on sale is their way of maintaining their image ... not the fact that they are launching a 'standard' line in another metal option. But thats just my opinion ... :D

:yes:Absolutely ... and Id love to be able to afford the above brands but alas, my mortgage prevents that :p ... lucky its a nice house!

i do think that the decision to market to a broader consumer demographic can be detrimental to Tiffany's overall brand image in the long run. I know in the past I have been turned off by purchasing fine gold and platinum jewelry from Tiffany because of the popularity of their silver pieces. However in the past year I have bought more jewelry from Tiffany's than at other jewelers. I love the designs -- it is as simple as that. Each time I purchased an item at Tiffany's I considered other jewelers and still went home with the blue box in my purse.

Sorry for the slight thread jack...just wanted to say all this to state that whether one buys Tiffany or not should depend on whether the jewelry we are considering really appeals to us or not. It shoud not depend on what other people are saying or buying.

As for the silver DBY, I too cannot seem to locate this merchandise on Tiffany's website...

I really like the DBTY necklace but dont want to pay the price for platinum (as I get bored easily with my jewellery) so this is a cheaper way of me getting the same look... I dont have a problem with it being made in silver.....

I would love to know the price point for the longest necklace - does anyone know?

I also cant find it on the website - perhaps its an early April fools? ; )
