I am thinking about requesting a dark blue bag such as bleu nuit or bleu indigo but having difficulty on the hardware. I like the look of phw with deeper blue because cool tones look good with cool tones but prefer gold hardware generally. Almost all of my H bags are ghw or brushed ghw.

If I do an SO, permabrass might also be an option.

What hardware looks best with a dark blue? I keep my bags for the long term so I want to make the right request.

my blue indigo kelly in clemence has gold hardware, which I really like. (My birkins are all in palladium hw.) I think this blue would look good in any type of hardware, to be honest. I think it depends on type of leather, too, and which hardware you gravitate to. (Epsom in blue indigo looks different than in clemence.) My personal opinion is that even though mine is a 32 retourne, I think the kelly lends itself to being a bit dressier than the birkin, which is a tote. My kelly is by no means a "formal" bag. Have fun deciding! I LOVE navy, so I am sure you will be pleased with whatever you get.

I love dark blue (or anything blue) and my current dark blue bags (bleu nuit and Caban) are all in GHW. They look great but I would love to get the same in PHW in the future. I agree PHW gives dark bleu bags the edgy look. Good luck in choosing and update us with your decision!

Phw is very 'in' right now, and if we were talking brighter/lighter blues there may be a question. Ghw actually makes blue look bluer (all shades) because they're almost complementary hues. I think the darkest blue tones look better with ghw to 'lift' the bag colour, otherwise it can fool the eye to black. Depends on your wardrobe though.

My wardrobe is really black, navy and shades of cream and white. For winter I also like burgundy.

I voted phw. I love blue bags, and they are all phw. But, if you prefer ghw, it would be stunning against dark blue. IMO, phw would be more casual and modern, ghw richer and dressier. But, at this point, I think both are classics of the house.

In recent years, DH and my independent jeweler have pointed out that YG is better against my skin tone. So, now I wear mainly YG jewelry and phw bags.

Gold all the way for me. I think phw makes blues look too cool toned for my taste. Every color can be either warm or cool depending on its undertones so I suppose there are blues that have a cool tone and look better with phw but my preference would be gold all the way. Honestly I don’t think our opinion matters that much. many people really prefer ghw or phw so go with what you like.

My bleu nuit B25 in togo has GHW...LOVE it  I used to think that PHW was a dealbreaker for me but some colors (and colors in certain leathers) lend themselves better to PHW so I'm more flexible now.
In the end it doesn't really matter what I think though...I'll be carrying my blue bag with GHW and you'll be carrying your blue bag with [insert hardware color here] Good luck deciding!
