I have a leather coach bag but the satin lining is very stained

I'm thinking about cutting out the lining -- and just having it be an all leather interior... has anyone else ever done this?

Does it look really weird?

Thanks!

Why don't you post pics of the problem? Perhaps someone from tPF can advise you about options for cleaning it - it would be a shame to destroy the pretty stiped lining!

The older bags never had linings and looked fine but I've never cut one out before. If it's ruined anyway, what do you have to lose. Just be sure to report back on how it works out if you decide to do it. I'm curious and I'll bet there are alot of other girls here who are curious, too.

The reason I ask is if there's no middle divider like some Coach styles, you could get a Purse To Go organizer insert instead of cutting the lining out. It will conceal the stains and your bag will still be intact. The website is the name plus dot net, not dot com. You can find them on ebay too.
Hope this helps!

maybe when i get home tonight i can snap some pics -- its just very DIRTY looking in real life (not sure it will show in pics) and i've tried the Tide stick but that didn't work and i know i'm going to be using the DAYLIGHTS out of this bag so its only going to get more beat up :)

thanks!

PS. i do love the striped lining -- its pretty :)

PPS. its mainly the lining on the large flap that you see when you open the bag -- i don't mind the inside part because its full of all my stuff -- but when you lift up the large flap and flip it open on the counter everyone sees the striped lining on the open flap part -- so thats the part i was thinking of cutting out :)

Go for the bag insert. They come in different colors & sizes and you can make it smaller too. I have two sizes ex-jumbo and jumbo. They will cover the stains in the bottom and you'll still see your striped linig around the top of the bag. Nobody sees down into your bag but you so the insert won't be noticed.

Yes, exactly. I have many Coach bags, just haven't gotten around to listing them in my collection, Carly, Sabrina satchel, Ali Hobo, Lg n sm Garnets, Denim patchwork gallery tote, wallet, wristlet, Fall 06 holiday ptchwk gallery tote, wristlet, etc. Love these inserts for the protection and the quick bag change it facilitates:tup:

Are the stains make up? Ink or dirt? I have done miricles on all sorts of stains. I have even cleaned the part of the lining on thd flap.

The cleaning method you use will depend on the type of stain. Most of the time a mini oxi spray mixed with a tide to go pen application will take out pen and dirt. Make up can be taken out with dish soap and water.
It will take time, but you can clean your bag. Don't rip out the lining.

two little pen marks -- but mostly just dirt. i tried the tied instant stain remover pen -- and it actually made a little stain -- like a water mark -- around the edges where the liquid stopped.

i'll try a few of these other suggestions first. and if i DO cut out the lining -- i will take a before and after photo and post them here :)
