Malaysia on goods like luxury items are usually 30%. To be honest, if you do decide to ship w/o insurance, FEDEX will provide you with peace of mind. And bear in mind that they(customs) rarely open the packages. They usually just run by the paperwork that comes with the package.

Thanks Maddox. Think i won't want to take a gamble on paying 30% tax! At this rate, this makes Sg tax look cheap.. it's all relative right :p

I've been told that Malaysian customs usually close an eye (or two!) on the smaller packages, but they're less likely to let a big package pass by.. so think I'll stick to HK/ Sin.

Apologies Moolah, I don't think I made myself clear in the previous post. The main point I was trying to make was that FEDEX would be a good option only if you decide to ship uninsured or under declare the value.

I have so far had all my big boxes shipped to me here, and none of them have been tampered with or opened by customs. Perhaps I have been lucky up til this point.

But of course when considering it from a financial point of view, SG or HK is definitely the best option

Good Luck and hope to see your reveal soon!

I have another question, I'm aware that this is a Hermes forum but i'm thinking of another brand of bag...if I'm shipping 2 bags in one box to Singapore and each of them valued below SGD$400 ( so the total would be no more than SGD$800 ), am i still need to pay the GST? Sorry I'm kind of newbie in this :)

If you send them in a box you should pay the GST because the total in that one box in more than 400$. :)
