I was encouraged by Langsam to start this thread on scarf/wardrobe curation over on the casual scarf wearing thread, and I thought it may even be interesting for some of you since I've been at this for over a year and can share experience now.
So I'll share a bit how I curate my wardrobe and scarf collection. I have OCD tendencies so for most of you this may be over the top lol

I'm using the stylebook app, which is cheap and easy to use. My favorite feature are the outfit planning calendar and also the ease of importing things when you have the product foto (which i now always save when i buy something). here is how it looks

IMG_5523.png
i mainly use the closet, looks and calendar features.
in closet, you can set up your own folder structure. mine looks like the below - for each category I have subcategories like scarves, belts in accessories or bottoms, tops etc in leisure wardrobe.
IMG_5524.png

looks is where you store the outfits you create - there i have folders like office winter - office summer, holidays, etc..
my favorite tool is this: here I plan my daily outfits (which i typically plan out for the week)
IMG_5526.png

the individual looks can look like this - you can even add fotos (under inspiration) like i did in the example below
IMG_5527.png

another reason why i love using this app is that I can play around with items before buying. for that I have a wishlist folder where I add clothing or scarves that I'm interested in. I'll then play around and create outfits and see how versatile these pieces would be with my wardrobe.

I'll leave it at that for here, let me know if this is interesting for you and you'd like to learn more about this (e.g. style stats, how I set up my wardrobe etc)
here's my favorite folder in my wardrobe :)

here's how easy it is to import things if you have the product foto. There's this boss blazer that I'm lusting after (which is idiotic since I'm not wearing blazers that often given I'm only in the office every 3 weeks).
so instead of pulling the trigger I've added it to wishlist like so
on the website I've saved the photo
Screenshot 2020-08-16 at 14.35.38.png
then in stylebook I added it to my wishlist folder - the import window lets you erase the white background
and then I started playing around with outfits.
IMG_5534.jpegIMG_5535.jpeg
Here I have added a foto of my plumes worn (I erased the background with another app) to best see how it would look. Then I typically try to create as many outfits as possible with other wardrobe items to see whether I would get a ton of use out of the item.IMG_5536.png

Very clever to photograh your scarf tied, for the virtual tryons. ps - you need that blazer :)

Thank you for doing this thread. It will help many of us who have the ap but haven't gotten over the hump to use it. Really appreciate what you are doing.

This is really fantastic @blydia, thanks for starting this thread! Do you have an organizing principle for your wardrobe, such as a capsuling approach, "dress for your style identify", follow a color theory, etc?

It’s really interesting. I never thought of planning my outfits for a week. I wanted to record this year which scarf I wore day by day but the Covid blew away this attempt. I think this app could help me doing this easily.

Thanks for posting this! I need to be better about curating my collection and outfit planning.

before covid, I liked to completely separate my business and leisure wardrobe and I had much more business clothes (given that i wore those 5 days and leisure only 2 days). so basically I had two separate capsules.
Nowadays I mix more since I am 2 out of 3 weeks in home office. What I do is I mix t-shirts and sweaters, as well as cardigans but keep bottoms separate (because who's sitting at home in wool trousers..). Bonus point - you have the nice, color-matched t-shirt /scarf combination uptop for the zoom call :D
I do have two distinct color palettes though, my work wardrobe is a bit brighter, while my leisure wardrobe is more muted in tones.
here the palettes that I created w powerpoint. this really helps streamlining purchase decisions.

yes this app is really helpful for that, even if you don't want to do the full outfit, you could just upload your scarves (could even do one by one as you wear them so you don't have to upload all at once)
IMG_5546.jpegIMG_5547.png

you also get cool stats - all the dates you wore something. you can see all outfits that you ever created with a given item.

Very nice! I like how you have a good number of colors in each capsule, yet they all relate well. I too stored away a lot of business clothes, took those that were suitable for work-from-home as the basis for a new work + casual wardrobe.

I have been using Stylebook for a couple of years now. It does take quite a bit of time initially to enter all the clothes or accessories you want to track. The app has a lot of flexibility, so you can make it work for you.
once You have things entered, it only takes few mins to add a new purchase. It is definitely easier if you can use a photo from the web. Once you have info entered, it probably takes me less than a minute to add what I wore that day.

I was mainly interested in my scarf usage so I started with those.

unlike Lydia, I mostly stopped creating “ looks “ or outfits to place on the calendar.
this is because I am mostly interested in scrf usage, and when I get rid of items from my closet, I delete them from the app, and that is difficult with the clothes in looks.
However, if I wear a scarf I always enter that first of the day, because that is what you see when you look at the month at a glance.

I do however use looks to plan outfits for trips 3-4 weeks long. ( hope I can do that again) i also like to use the packing list feature.
