So many great ideas I hadn't considered! I'll be take another look at Loewe puzzle (does the small zipper bother any of you) and @880 I have loved many of the men's Dior bags so thanks for reminding me. Like @CoastalCouture, a different strategy I was considering was a WOC under my coat and then carrying a tote or backpack if needed. I usually don't like flat bags, as I love a top handle, but those bags styles work best for being close to the body. Your suggestions also make me realize I have bags in my closet which could work (Bolide, Halzan, etc) but I don't think I'm gutsy enough to use my most precious bags for travel! I'm looking forward to London and checking out brands like Grace Han, Mulberry, Anya Hindmarch, Launer etc in person. (That's probably another thread question!) Please keep suggestions coming!

I have had the most consistent travel success with the Jypsiere 28 and Halzan. Both have flexibility for day/casual crossbody wear and a more dressed up evening program (using a twilly as shoulder strap for the J).

I hear what you're saying about the precious factor, but in my experience H bags really perform without showing the extra "banging up" from travel. For example last year I bought a really pretty Antigona Sport specifically to take on an extended trip and it was sort of a disaster. The wear was immediate and not at all chic. The bag went straight to consignment when I got home.

Thought I would post a little update. In the end it turned out I already owned a perfectly good bag for this trip, the Anya Hindmarch mini rope bag. I don't carry much and have come to realize I prefer flap bag when traveling because it's so much easier to get in and out of. It held up well to London drizzle as well! Might still look for a more "lux" option someday but clearly I've got plenty of bags in my home already!

That's great - isn't it nice to find the right thing already in your closet? And I am sure you AH felt right at home!

I wasn't previously familiar with this bag but I like how the handle goes all of the way across the flap - modern and more functional than some similar styles.
