A bag that's only 8 or 9 inches across the top is going to fit tighter and sit higher than a bag that's 13 or 14 inches across, even if they both have the exact same strap length. That's why I usually buy bags that are at least 13 or 14 inches across the top.

I have the same issue too!! But, I love crossbody and am not a fan of carrying a handbag on the crook of my arm. Don't be shy about trying on bags. It's the only way to tell. Now I know that anything less than 24" will sit way too high on me. Most straps unfortunately range about 20"-22". I bought myself a Penny which I love, but the strap is at most 22" I think. I bought some clasps at a dollar store to extend it and that works for me. Stay away from non adjustable straps as those do tend to be on the shorter side. And if you must have a bag that winds up being too short for you, the clasps work great. HTH!

I had no idea I could do this!!! I am so glad I found this thread, I'm a plus-sized girl and had the same issues, I love a crossbody but they always sit too high on me. I never would've thought to get an extender! Thank you

I wish I still had the pic I took. I bought her last year. Kept her all of an hour and took her back. Personally, she's too small but lets be clear; she'll look good on some plus sizes and not so good on others. As a pear, I think she looked underwhelming with my hips plus I'm tall- 5'8. I found her strap long enough (oddly enough) but she was just too little for me.
