Cross body bag for Europe travel

I just returned from a couple of weeks in Europe and I took my Longchamp Neo, which is an amazing option for travel. It isn't very big but it holds a lot, including water bottles and umbrellas (which I had the whole time), and the strap is very comfortable cross body. This bag is my standby for travel. It's just so easy and it works in every situation. Miles of walking, train hopping, going out to dinner. Can't say enough good things about it. I often find it hard to switch back out of it when I get back in town.

Longchamp makes very nice nylon cross bodies!
They are roomy, lightweight, rainproof and come in all colours![emoji7]

i second this, specifically the Neo - it's the most practical. Just make sure it is always zipped and have your hand on top of the zipper so no one close to you in a crowd can sneakily open it.

I personally prefer smaller bags and carry just my wallet, cell phone, keys, and sunglasses. Smaller bags are harder to steal from than larger bags.

The Police always say that big bags attract more attention..

Givenchy pandora- the original, not the Pure. This one is medium, in black goatskin leather (bomb-proof). Sturdy zippers, interior and exterior pockets, all zip. Five ways to carry: crossbody, shoulder (long), shoulder (short), crook of arm, hand, tote. Full price: ~$2k; pre-loved can be half that. Some goos sales just ended on some colors 30-50% off. Can be cheaper in Europe, particularly with VAT refund (try Harrods in London or boutiques in Italy). Might make a lovely souvenir! Good luck - lots of good options! View attachment 3066138

Haha, I was just about to post this exact bag. I used it for my European trip last year and it was ideal-the right size, zippered, crossbody. Mine too is black goatskin. Great bag.

Agree, I love the Longchamps Le Pliages for travelling as they are so light and easy to carry around! My other go to bag is a Crumpler - this is also great for travelling as it is fairly waterproof, closes with velcro (so requires some force to open and makes a huge noise which is a deterrent to pickpockets), and has threads to make it harder to cut into.

If you are at all considering a Longchamp though they are probably cheaper in Europe than in America or most of the rest of the world!

Just be aware of your surroundings - someone I know had her Le Pliage cut and a wallet stolen from it in a busy area in London, but she said she thinks that this was because someone had seen her get a not insignificant amount of cash from a cash machine just before... And I know people who have felt hands moving around inside their bags in Barcelona (attempted pickpocketing). If you want to be extra careful a money belt could potentially be a good idea as you can put cash, passport and cards into it, and then just put items of lesser value into a bag.

I went to Barcelona last summer and it's known for pick pockets. I got a Le Sport Sak Everyday bag. I got a plain, navy colour. I loved it! Light weight, nylon, and so many pockets! The best part was the large pocket on the outside of the bag closest to your body. I had my passports in there because thats not a place thats easy to pick pocket. I really recommend it. I carried my mirrorless camera, water bottles etc.

Hermès Evelyne  affordable, comes in many colors, has an understated charm, and has definitely something from a nomad-chic, amd imo the perfect crossbody bag for trips.
GL deciding

Not a good choice, unless you want people to stick their nasty hands in there and steal your belongings when you're not paying attention. This bag has an open closure and perforation on the front so the locals and gypsies can see everything. But hey, if you want to carry that it's fine with me.

I would just carry an ugly slim crossbody that you can hide under your clothes or the fanny pack that can be hidden under your pants. My uncle got pickpocketed in Paris so be wary.
