<hehehe!> That's great, Shimma! I think I'm going to print it out and frame it. Ah yes, one should always style one's self to please one's peevish elders! <hehehehehe!>

You mean you haven't been doing that all these years:D
I learned a long time ago to keep certain pieces in the closet while my mother was going to see me LOL

I can't claim credit for the remove one piece thing, I've done it forever, but I have no idea which Formidable Begum Auntie or whatever it came from, maybe my grandmother?

:lolots: But what really made me laugh because just a little while ago I noticed the little stack of half-finished Crane's foldover notes (cream, not white, with a thin gold border only since my Golden Jubilee) with thank you notes for various Blessing Shopping Season remembrances received from the Distant all written, not a single one in an envelope, not a single one addressed, and not a single one sent.

when you wote te one piece thing i knew i had heard it before - googling provided the answer :When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on,” said the great Coco Chanel. ...
Everytime I see someone tht loooks like a walking jewelry store it comes to mind:D

And oh the Crane's notes - how grown up I felt when I first ordered them. HA - how things hahow things have changed ;)

Gotta be a bit contrary here. Just to present a counterpoint: Recently I had one of those blinding moments when I was confronted with how short and fragile life can be. I learned a ton of big life lessons, but a few small ones too. Among the smaller lessons I walked away with was that if I want to walk out of my house looking like a one-woman Mardi Gras parade, it's just not the end of anybody's world. Take off one piece if you want. Add a few more if it makes you happy. Nobody's going to remember the details in the end.

And I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one who gets a rush out of good stationery!

Burberryprincess, I would vote for wearing whatever you want when you're not interacting with the crotchety elders. Seize the moment to overdo while you're young and cute.

Now if you're a minimalist at heart, then of course, the above does not apply.
