Considering Tiffany & Co. Round Brilliant with Channel Set

Oh I just misread your original post! I didn't realize that you were looking at the channel set solitaire. What I like about a thinner band is that the solitaire pops more and the ring looks more delicate. But the channel set is very pretty. Personally my favorite is the square cut channel set with a round soliatire but when we were looking those rings only came in bigger sizes. I would say a ring that I love along those lines is the Tiffany ribbon ring --- it is a very distinctive ring as well. But it all really is about what your fiance wants.

So I have been looking at rings for about 3 months now and even though she says "It doesn't matter, I would be happy with any ring you get me" I have decided that Im going with a Tiffany Round Brilliant with Channel Set.

I have been down to the store a couple times and have seen a few examples and been emailing back and forth with the guy that assisted me when I was there but I would like to get some "real-life" input from those who have this ring. Pros, Cons, Love, Hate, etc...

Hi New77,

I have the ring...the exact ring... 1.30 Tiffany round brillant with channel set band.....I've had it now for 7 + years and still love it as much as I did the first time I laid eyes on it.

It's a beautilful ring wherther you wear it with or without the wedding band. Super Classic and elegant!

Only thing i went back and forth on was the wedding band...i couldn't decided whether i want the matchign channel set or not....in the end my husband wanted matching ring so i went with the 3mm milgrain platinum band....and i have to tell you...i love it!

I'm sure she will love whatever you get her....good luck!:D

I have the three stone round brilliant engagement ring, but when I was looking at wedding bands the channel set was my favorite. To me, it seemed like it could take the most abuse and it looked clearly defined as a second ring. I think if you go with the channel set your soon to be fiancée will be able to wear it with both a matching band OR with one of their shared prong rings without everything blurring together.

As for in general experiences, I'm very happy with my ring. The most common compliment I receive is that my ring is the sparkliest ring. Second to that are comments about how white it is or how crystal clear my stones are. T & Co. no doubt sells beautiful diamonds. No matter which ring you pick out, she'll absolutely love it. It's true that most people won't know it's a Tiffany, but I get positive comments on the quality of my ring all the time.

I too have a round brilliant cut with a channel set band of round diamonds e-ring and I love it. The brilliance of all the stones combined puts on a serious light show which makes it the prettiest thing I've laid eyes on, lol. Since I'm "picky" as my husband says, he chose a ring with the option for the matching wedding band. So I of course chose the matching channel set wedding band with the exact same size rounds as the e-ring and it sits flush with my e-ring. I love the entire combination and I honestly can't think of any cons about it.

Cocachic08 your ring sounds about exactly what we have been looking at. What made you pick the channel set over the bead set?

We have been shopping around some more (mainly just to through her off the trial) and it seems some of the other examples she likes are one with a thinner band. She did try on the bead set and liked that one equally as well when we were there.

I didn't prefer the look of my rounds having their own prongs. It was too much metal for me. Since the rounds in the channel are small, I was ok with the spacing between the diamonds and I was assured that it would take extraordinary force to lose one of my rounds.

In comparing the bead set and channel set, one con I can see is getting gunk in between the diamonds. Since I'm constantly washing and lotioning my hands I would think my channel gets dirtier than a bead setting. So I do clean my ring with a brush on a daily basis.

My husband did confess that when he narrowed down what he thought I liked, he called the jeweler in advance and asked him to "recommend" certain pieces when we got in the store to see what my reaction would be. He had me thinking I was getting the ring that he really liked, lol!

Hope this helps!
