Concerns about Zippy DE wallet

Word of advice. Avoid changing zipper pulls Unless you have to. They have to remove the zipper stopper out before they do it then put it back, often fraying and destroying the fabric. My stoppers have fell off before and it just became a mess of a situation. I've gotten it done on several pieces and they have ALWAYS damaged my piece.

Ps they do it in-store
Could you possibly post pics?

Thank you. Do you use it everyday?

I've used it everyday for about a year straight but have changed the wallet for the period December until April because of the weather here. I always carry the dustbag inside my handbag to protect the wallet from color transfer if I need to put something in for a short time that isn't permanent in my bag.

Here's a picture of my zipper pull, the scratch are so little that my camera can't pick up. But this wallet is super durable even though it's light color. Ebene is even more carefree I guess. :)

Wow seriously? Have you had this done in the same store each time? If so then maybe they're not so skilled in that particular store, otherwise kind of takes away they 'perk' of the service being free. Especially if they're making it look worse!

Get what you pay for (or in this case what you don't pay for) I guess.

I have a damier azur zippy wallet and I absolutely love it. I purchased it pre-owned, now I think about it, I believe the previous owner didn't take much care of the wallet. I was new to Ebay and LV back then, so thinking back, the deal at the time wasn't exactly a good one (could've gotten it for cheaper). Still, at the time there was still a lot of life left to the wallet, and upon receiving it, despite some disappointment, I fell in love with the wallet.

This wallet is now going to be 5 years old. The previous owner used for about 2.5 years, and I've used for another two years now. The state of my wallet is exactly what it looked like two years ago when I first received from the previous owner. When I received it, glazings at the bottom corners were gone, there were scratches on zipper pull, and overall surface wear. But the point is, after using it daily for the past two years, its condition stayed about the same, never have gotten worse. I've not changed the zipper pull nor had it reglazed, because I didn't know about this back then.

I plan to purchase a new DA zippy wallet for myself, because after knowing LV for more than a year now, I am a bit disgusted at what the previous owner did to the wallet, and want to get a new one and wear it in my own way. I will continue to use this old DA zippy for international trips, because it easily holds two persons' passports along with cash and coin.

The point of my story is, I don't think you should worry about your DE zippy at all. If my DA zippy can withstand so much wear, your DE will definitely be able to withstand much more. The zipper pulls, like others said, can be changed in-store free of charge. And if glazing is a problem, you can always get it reglazed too. Use your wallet and enjoy it!

You want the card slots to be tight. That's a good thing. Floppy to start with would not be good, because they do stretch with use.

I have a new Sarah wallet and I find the card slots too tight. It's annoying that I have to fight to get the cards back in their designated slots. I for one am excited for them to loosen up a bit.

Thank you love your post!
That really helped me I just didn't want to put out that much money and have something just fall apart etc. It's half the pice almost of my bag.

I agree with you, the wallets are not cheap. But in my opinion, out of all the luxury brands I've looked into, considering design+quality+durability, LV is best for small leather goods. I wanted to get a Chanel caviar wallet at one point, but many people commented in the Chanel forum just how the small leather goods from Chanel don't seem as sturdy as the Chanel handbags. And they referred people to look into LV instead.

By the way, the previous owner of my old DA zippy told me she stacked two cards together for each card slot in the wallet for couple months, until the card slots were loose enough for easier use. This was something I enjoyed when I got my old zippy. Hope this trick will help you =]
