Me too. I have successfully downsized into two bags. One Lv speedy B 25 for daily use. One black small Mulberry Lily for picking up kids. (I do think LV bags could be a little bit loud at school campus)

I have always been a bag girl for as long as I started primary school. Each term I asked for new schoolbag. I am 36 years old now, and it is impossible for me to count how many bags and how much I have already spent on them.

Unlike many girls here who do love and baby the bags they have, I never developed any sentimental attachment with the bags I had. The excitement and love I had for my bags died so quick, sometimes the joy disaappeard once I opened the package. Then I started painfully to search for my next bag.

I gradually realised that I have always been searching for the perfect bag for myself. But like lover or husband, there would never be someone as perfect. The best I can do is to find something or someone suits me.

Now I feel so relieved.

there are more options than before for fine jewelry in that middle space between super fancy/luxury and super boring/ugly like no name department/mall store stuff.

i am in interesting phase where i have a goldsmith that can make a jewelry based on my own design. trust me, you dont wanna go there. it is a crazily slippery slope.

My interest in bags waxes and wanes. Right now I feel like I have too many bags, so I am in a donating/selling phase. This will likely be followed by a few months of no interest in bags, then something will catch my eye and I will have to have it.
Then sometimes I get in a designer/mid-range phase, and I will want to have all designer or all mid-range brands. This because I have a very casual, middle class lifestyle, and occasionally my bags will seem too high end for the real me.
My point is that I never reach an end point when it comes to bags!

I'd be more on if I could ever find the bags and slg I really really want. And if there were far fewer holy grail SNADS on the pre-owned market.

Still waiting and pining for my like new Balenciaga Rouge Lipstick City. Or a Rouge Vif. Still waiting for Loewe to make the small Puzzle in Varsity Blue and silver hw. And will Chanel ever make the exact XL flap Chevron 2.55 cardholder/wallet I have but in a gorgeous red and ruthenium/silver hw? I can't even find an Hermès Bastia in the right colour.

I've become a fussy buyer. I blame Marie Kondo :P

Pretty much down to 1 or 2 bags once a year for the last 3 years ad had sold off quite a few that were just taking up space.

For me it's not about the burden of them but liking and focusing on what I have. I love my bags not just bags in general or the next one. When people complement my 8 y o bag (recently) I know it's because of the bag itself and not because it's a fashionable trophy,. That feels like a sincere compliment.

This is me.

I'm kinda over the whole "spend a fortune" on a handbag. I'd rather invest that same money.

I'm getting there. Part of it is a shift in financial circumstances, but mostly I think I've wised up over the years. Were bags a lot better 5-10 years ago, or have I just come to my senses? It may be a combination of both, but I'm leaning toward the latter. IMHO, so many current bags are ugly, tacky, or for whatever other reason, just not worth $1500+. I'd like to add a casual/versatile/timeless large black bag with silver hardware to my collection, but having spent several hours at Saks, Neimans, and Bloomingdales on Sunday, it appears that no current style--luxe or contemporary--fits this basic bill. Several years ago, I really liked the Givenchy Antigona and would have jumped on it for the right price, but this time around, all I could think was that it should be renamed the Givenchy Bulbous, and come with a disclaimer that it is not suitable for use on public transportation in major cities. Perhaps I am just an old fart now. That's ok--it's better for my wallet, and probably also better for my look. Expensive and stylish are far from synonymous.

Yes, and I’m happy to be here. At my worst in 2015, I purchased 20 bags. :faint: Now, I’ve only purchased 2 bags in the last 2 years (although Mr. S. has surprised me with gifts.) Like many of you, my cooling on bags has come from a number of factors.

First, I worked hard over several years to get my collection to be exactly what I need and love - no more no less. As a result, I adore and use all I have and don’t have any significant gaps. I truly can shop my own closet.

Second, I despise owning bags I don’t wear and I despise selling bags I don’t want. So, I thoughtfully and deliberately evaluate any potential bag purchase. Most bags aren’t beautiful + functional + high quality + appropriately priced “enough” to stand several days or weeks of rational scrutiny.

Third, the value proposition on most new bags just isn’t there. Prices have gone through the roof while quality on almost all brands has declined. Plus, most new styles (especially logomania) don’t appeal to me.

Lastly, I finally know what works for me. A lot of my buying ended up being sold because I found the bag just didn’t work for me. Now I know the brands, styles and range of colors that make me giddy long term. No more seemingly endless trial and error.

So, given these factors, I’m actually pretty happy that I’m over my bag fever and can revel in what I have. I’ll add a bag every year or so just to keep my collection fresh. But, I’m in no rush.

Agree, a bag that isn't being worn just takes up closet space (other than special occasion or evening bags that are meant to be worn once in a while). I also dislike selling and returning, etc. So being very thoughtful before purchasing is the only way to go.

Also, I have been noticing my usage patterns and I just don't switch my bags often. This summer, I have used the same few bags over and over again, and haven't even felt any pressing need to change things up.

I haven't gone off bags, I still love them. I am just trying to be more thoughtful about my future purchases, taking into consideration my lifestyle, personal preferences and usage patterns. I still need a couple of bags to round off my wardrobe, but I am in no hurry to get them.
