comparison: tiffany vs. blue nile dbty bracelet

the thicker one is from blue nile

i'm thinking the blue nile one looks better too...if the diamonds face up. i found that the tiffanys diamonds, while obviously not as sparkly, turn over, they are not as noticeable. since the bn bezels are tapered, they appear much smaller when flipped

do you think the thicker chain detracts from the whole "floating diamonds" look though? i kind of think of dbty as having that look. i'm also debating over getting a single dbty necklace too, which i want to have that floating feel. think it matters if the bracelet and necklace don't match?

Are you saying that the Tiffany diamonds aren't sparkly? Because they are a bit smaller or what?

Also, do you find one bracelet flips more than the other?

I have 3 Tiffany DBtY necklaces (not bracelets) so I'm a bit biased in my preference. I knew immediately which was the Tiffany because it is so delicate.

my platinum one is the second from my hand. the first one is a roberto coin that I compared to your blue nile one. i've owned the platinum one for 2 years now and have taken it off once to clean, and it felt weird not wearing it. you will get lots of wear out of it !

As I said above, I have 3 DBtY necklaces and I tend to wear them all together - BUT I much prefer the variation in colour of this!! Love Love Love it!

Do they tangle and do they flip like crazy? Mine do.

I too hate to admit that I preferred the Tiffanys one without knowing which is which! Especially if the other one is flipping and it's bothering you... You may need to return BN.

With that said I think the price is outrageous for the Tiffanys bracelet. Can anyone who has Roberto Coin attest to its size and quality to help you decide?

my bad, i wrote that sentence incorrectly:blushing:...what i meant to say was that it's not as noticeable when the tiffany diamonds flip over (even though they are not as sparkly when flipped over) because the bezel is so fine - the blue nile diamonds appear much smaller when flipped since the bezel is tapered on the underside

no they're not too bad, my wrists are around 6 inches and the bracelets are all around 7inches so maybe there's not enough room to tangle??

Let us know what you decide.

I think it would help us if you took a picture with a bracelet on each wrist - not one beside the other. That's if you haven't decided which bracelet you want.

I prefer the Tiffany DBTY. My mom has the entire platinum collection (bracelet, necklace, and solitaire earrings). She's worn them every day for as long as I can remember. The delicate look of the chain and the craftsmanship of the bezel is what sets them apart, in my opinion.

ok....so to throw another item into the mix, i'm now considering a brian gavin custom dbty! based on pics i was sent, their chains and bezels seem comparable to tiffany's, and i can get larger stones and white gold like in my blue nile bracelet (i'm thinking the platinum is a little dark for me)- the best of both worlds for a price similar to BN! the only problem is that since it would be custom, it would be final sale. i know i've read good things on bgd, but can someone reassure me that their diamonds have great presence? i HATE to order a piece that i can't see or return...

also, i decided that while the thicker chain of the BN piece looks better from afar on the wrist, up close it seems a bit...cheap? something about the larger chain on such a dainty item. i dunno, but that's what i feel!

Thank you for your post and great pics! I am also considering a dbty bracelet and was looking at BN. Did you consider their larger carat weight one, for about the same price as your platinum Tiffany's? I wonder if the larger stones would make it flip more or flip less...

I like the brian gavin cushions shaped dbty. especially the one thats wihte gold and pnk gold milgraining. I havnt seen this on someone but I think it would be gorgeous with a yellow or pink diamond!!

i went and looked at roberto coin's today...the chain is a little bit thinner than the BN but still much thicker than tiffanys

i didn't consider the larger BN one since i was trying to spend less ;). personally i feel like larger stones will flip more since their pointed ends will jut out far past the bezel causing them to sit on an angle on the wrist - making them more likely to flip. they may also be more uncomfortable since they can be poking you. however, since BN's bezel is taller it might help. i have decided, though, that the extra weight of the wider top portion of the bezel only helps to keep the diamond flipped the wrong way. the little time i've been wearing it, most of the diamonds are flipped over! the thicker chain also easily shows when it's twisted and i'm not loving the look since i'm always flipping diamonds hence twisting the chain...

i've decided to return the BN one and am now deciding between tiffany and bgd!
