Hi everyone

I've just wondering what has been people's personal experience with colour transfer on white lambskin? I wear a lot of dark colours and am nervous about this rubbing onto the white of my bag. Does this happen easily, and if so can you keep the bag in good condition by removing the colour transfer at home or wiping it down with something after a wear?

Thanks

I have a few light colored Chanel bags but haven’t worn them with dark clothing; I am really not planning to due to fear of ruining them. I have ruined 3 non-Chanel designer bags due to color transfer… one on a relatively new bag while wearing a black cotton dress and another through contact rubbing on my jeans (I would clean afterwards but bag still had some jean stains), another which I cleaned with leather cleaner after use and unknowingly let it dry touching a dark colored bag on my shelf.

I was tempted to buy the stunning creamy white aged calfskin with aged ghw mini reissue that I saw a few months ago, but I passed. I wasn’t worried about color transfer as I would only use it as a summer/spring bag, but the SA actually told me it would yellow over time..even if it was sitting in a dust bag in my closet. Not sure if the yellowing happens to lambskin or caviar.

Yeah, yellowing is my number one fear as well, but heard it happens if you leave it more in sunlight. I saw a few older bags when doing my research I believe were 10-15 years old that were not yellowed so bit the bullet and thought would go for it and enjoy the beauty of a crispy white bag and just hope it doesn’t happen to mine. But if so, would sell the bag before it happened or have it dyed. I bought two white bags and 1 creamy beige bag.

You can't get rid of color transfer easily, sometimes not at all. I love white but would never pay luxury prices for it. The issues with color transfer aside, you have dirt that gets on it easily, and the glue residue shows - it's all-over high maintenance. My grandmother saved me a white leather bag in a box and never told me, so I found it years later. It had been unused and untouched but the white had yellowed. It doesn't matter if it's caviar or lamb, it'll yellow, but that happens after maybe 15-20 years, it's not an overnight thing. You could probably enjoy the bag for at least a decade or more before the major issues arise.

I do all I can to prevent colour transfer, I seal the colour on dark clothes and carbon pro the bags. But for me it’s the white stitching that ends up looking the worst and it’s nigh on impossible to clean.

Is carbon pro safe to use on all leathers? I also found this article which suggests wiping down bags with baby wipes, a microfibre cloth, and then using a clean, white eraser to get out a stain. I also watched a youtube video where this worked quite well but....thoughts?

I use it on all leathers and on my white trainers too. Works a treat but I do wipe any marks when the day is over. White is high maintenance and I’m not so a few marks get stuck in now and again Which doesn’t bother me. Erasers I have no knowledge of but I do know not to use a magic eraser as its very abrasive.

For me personally I would get any other color besides white when it comes to luxury handbags. Too much work to take care of white and also there are other bags that are cheaper you can get in white so you can just be carefree with. Chanel is too expensive so the lightest I would go is a light beige.

I am a fan of white bags and I am used to handling white bags from luxury brands with no issues. I have a white caviar cf which I bought about 12 years ago? It still looks brand new despite using it for so many years, no colour transfer, no yellowing, nothing happened to it.

Hence having a good experience with white caviar, I bought a white caviar coco handle last month. Gosh bad mistake! I wore a light beige top on the first use, and it was stained with beige at the back! The second time I wore a light yellow top, the bag was further stained with yellow. To test it out, I wore the same tops with my white cf, nothing happened to the cf. The new white caviar is a colour magnet, it just absorbs any colour to the leather, and I could not remove it at all. In conclusion, for the price increase, the quality of the leather has dropped drastically. I will never buy anything white from Chanel again. Totally disappointed with their quality, my bag was destroyed with just 2 usages.

What season is your white CCH? My friend has a 21a which she has had no issue with although I have seen her use quite a bit. I have a 21k and haven’t used it yet. :/ My friend also uses her 21b beige/cream 19 even more as an everyday type bag and has had no issues. I am getting a bit scared.

I can't tell which season anymore since there is no card. I believe mine is 21K as I bought it in Nov.

I bought a light blue Chanel 19 a week before I bought the CCH, no issues with the light blue even when I use it more than the white CCH.
