Cole Haan vs Dooney & Bourke

from those posted, i prefer the DB. the CH looks too open for me- could be a security issue. the DB looks good for work too, elegant

I agree about the openness of the Cole Haan. If I tried to carry that bag, my stuff would just jump out of the bag roll under car seats etc. (Although I do like the looks of the CH better! Maybe they make one of the same style but deeper?)

They're both very well-made bags. I have Dooneys that are several years old and they are super durable and the quality is very high. (Better than some higher-priced brands, IMHO.) I also like the style of the Dooney you posted, it is a perfect tote!

I have a Cole Haan Triple zip satchel that I love. I think the quality is amazing. I don't own any Dooney bags but I do think their quality is excellent and their styles are cute. You should check out QVC they have some crescent totes that zip at the top and usually great prices and color selection. Out of the 2 pics you posted I like the Dooney better.

Thanks again everybody for all your opinions, I truly appreciate them!

This is the bag I was really searching for (it's the one in my signature) and it's a CH but they call it the Saddle Shoulder bag though it looks like a tote to me. It's 18' long by 11.5 high so seems the perfect tote dimensions. It has a zip across the top but no studs at the base. I simply can't afford it right now at $450 and looked on ebay but no luck so far

I am leaning toward the DB because it's the closest to this shape and style. Anyway sometimes it's hard when you know what you need and want!

From what I've found, they both last very well. I've borrowed (and never quite managed to give back) both brands from my mom from a couple of decades ago. I also bought my own of each, and they've been through quite a bit and you wouldn't really be able to tell from looking at them.
I personally tend to prefer Dooney bags, just because I like their styles a little bit more.

I own both brands and both have excellent leather. However, I would say go for the CH. Not the one from the choices, but rather wait a couple months and CH will discount the one in your siggy. In fact, if you can wait, come Easter or Mother's day, it will probably be marked down and even possibly have an extra % off. You might need to wait a bit longer than that, but if it is the one you really want, then it's worth the wait, isn't it? :smile1:
