Hi everyone
I hope you'll excuse my ignorance and help me out here. I've been looking for a medium-large tote bag for ages and have finally found 2 candidates, one is by Cole Haan and the other by Dooney. As I am not too familiar with either brand, please can you tell me which you would prefer/recommend in terms of quality of the leather and workmanship and durability.

It's a tote style that will be used often. I own 2 bags by Coach: a medium hobo shoulder bag and a large briefcase style for work. How do CH and D&B compare to Coach?
Many thanks in advance for any advice and tips! :smile1:

I have Dooneys that I have had for a long time, and have found them to be extremely durable. The are very high quality and will last forever! I'm sure I will die before my Dooneys do!!

I don't have a D&B, but I do have a CH and they are very well made. I have a few of their wallets too and they hold up really nicely. I prefer the CH as I think they are classic and timeless, and no logos.

Thanks everyone for your comments!
The closest photo I can find of the CH (2nd photo) is this but the actual bag is black and the handles are slightly different.

It sounds like you are looking for practicality, and for that I would go with Dooney. Cole Haan has beautiful designs but their sizing is not always practical. If the bag you like has those threaded through loop handles, I caution you that they can get uncomfortable if you carry a lot of stuff.

I normally prefer Cole Haan as the leather is so amazing but I've owned that style and it does tend to open at times, especially if it is an older magnetic closure. I think the Dooney would be better in this instance.
