Coach selling used bags?!

Also I don't think this bag was even called Dinky. Isn't it 9755 (pocket purse?) and usually is on eBay for well under $100

Yeah, it looks like those are indeed pocket purses. I pulled out two of mine to double check the measurements I get, compared to the measurements the coach site lists. Where they get 6.5 inches for height, I get more like 6, but they might be flattening it more than I do while measuring.

I gotta admit, I'm .... surprised? Is that even the word I want? And for a multitude of reasons. :shrugs:

One good thing though, is that it's shown me exactly how my daughter has matured. When I was doing my rehabs, wayyyy back in 2009 when I first joined up here, daughter was all of about seven years old, and was quite unimpressed with my vintage Station bags, pocket purses, basic bags, etc. The only one she liked was my red Quincy because it's bright, vivid red. None of them were the pink she craved. A few years ago, she started asking to use my Quincies and pocket purses more often. Now when I showed her coach's site this evening, she's like, "Woah! I like ours better!". Good girl.

I said the same thing to my dh last night. I'll stick to rehabbing and getting them for 90% off those prices.

I also thought those Dinky bags were pocket purses, lol. Unreal.
ikr Would it kill them to call by their actual style names? It is interesting though that it appears they use the correct release dates of the bags though on the Coach website.
Early Dinky’s used a dog leash clip and then later had sewn on straps. To the best of my knowledge, the Dinky never used the trigger release clip that the Pocket Purse or Convertible Clutch strap have.
In fact whateve and I were posting on this topic not too long ago. Coach did refurbishing of bags for their anniversary in 2016 (when Coach featured the video of Debitherestorer in her rehab barn in Montana) , just before I vigorously renewed my interest in vintage Coach. They referred to Convertible Clutches and Pocket Purses as Dinky’s then too. It is probably easier and more attractive marketing to refer to them as Dinky’s.

The woman who did the restoring is a pf member, also posts on instagram and facebook. While the bags seem outrageously expensive, she does amazing work. To keep it in perspective, although I feel like I can do a good job with an Ebay steal for a lot less, she can pull off some real renovations. It is one thing to wash and condition a bag, the rehabs she performs are miraculous. You can check out some of her repairs on her blog. This one I thought came out amazing and is one I'd never have the patience and skills to pull off: https://www.sacsmagnifiques.com/res...a-no-59-the-scout-berry-red-box-calf-leather/

I've been searching for a black barrel bag for what seems like forever, so this updated version is extremely tempting. I swear this forum has done more damage to my wallet... lol
Even though I made fun of this I am really tempted to get the barrel bag - I do not remember which bag this is a re-make of but really like the look. One thing - do you think it has feet? I am very, very tempted...

So get this:

I went to Dillards the other week and had to use the restroom which is near home goods. I noticed this shelf of purses out of place right next to the bathroom and noticed they were Louis Vuitton which seemed like a weird place for them. Then...I saw a sign advertising vintages purses that Dillards is now selling!! Is this the thing now??

I'm not really sure why they had them away from all the other purses and it wasn't clear if they were for sale or not. At first I actually thought some of them were fake as this Dillards doesn't have a huge LV selection normally. Since LV supposedly destroys its old stock people must be selling the bags back to the store or the store now buys them from eBay, etc?

Edit: apparently they've been doing this for a few years. They buy the bags from an NYC company according to this article: http://theawood.com/dillards-designer-vintage-handbags/

Von Maur and Herbergers also were selling pre-owned LV.. They usually were in glass cases in a seperate section than Coach, Dooney and other bags.

I wish I could find the article, but it said a lot of designers are noticing how profitable sites like RealReal are and now doing it themselves, a few designers are doing it, I thought even Chanel was but I could be wrong.

I cannot believe Coach is selling used bags that you can get on Ebay for much, much cheaper - WTH? I have a duffle in pristine condition I bought 30 years ago and would not be able to sell it for $100 but Coach is asking hundreds? I really do not get it!
Same here. If I want to get a Vintage bag all I need to do is shop in my closet. It’s a lot cheaper! I have the original “real deals,” which are also in pristine condition, a black duffle, the City bag, and others. When I see the prices that Coach is now asking for these “restored, remixed, archival, whatever” bags, I want to laugh!
