Can I ask how you knew this was a fake? The only things that looked funny to me, were the fabric and the zipper didn't seem very well put in on the side.

I have been trying to familiarise myself with what to look for, as all my bags to date have come from a boutique so authentication has never been a problem. i was looking at an outfit called Poshmark and that is why I need to do some homework.

thanks

The fake listing has been removed for being fake so I can't see what was wrong with it. We have an authentication thread so you should post anything you are considering buying there. I don't recommend you try to self-authenticate until you gain a lot of experience. There are a lot of fakes on Poshmark!

Generally, without seeing a listing, it's difficult to know why an item was fake, but in this case, I can tell you a bit about how we knew it was fake.

If you click on the link to the listing, it brings you to ebay showing you the title of the removed item, "Authentic Brown Coach Canvas Leather trim Handbag No M04K 5659."

Just the title is enough to know that the bag is fake because the serial number wouldn't be on an authentic "brown bag."

This is Coach's stock photo of what 5659 looks like. (Note that there are similar fakes in the "right" colors, but for the listing in question, it was a brown bag.)

Thank you for that. In fact I now realise that I was looking at the wrong bag. As you say, the bad one was removed.

In the mean time I have also discovered that "Poshmark" does not sell to Canadians, so I guess it will still be "Boutiques" for me!

Sorry, I just now saw your question. BeenBurned is right in that I knew the serial number wasn't for that style. The listing has been removed or I'd let you know more! I learned a LOT of things by watching BeenBurned authenticate items and post the fakes here. :-)
