I was just going to purchase the bag but it seems off. It felt like it was plastic and not leather. I have pics if want to see. It looks ok just did't like the feeling and the one strap was coming off the signature part.

Sorry, that's not correct in this case. The first set of digits DO matter because that style wasn't even made in the year shown in the year code. The first set of digits don't have to match when you're comparing two bags with the same style numbers, but they darned well better have VALID production codes. And even that doesn't prove the bag is genuine, and this one isn't.

It's better if you let the forum experts comment on authenticity questions or questions about serial numbers.


memeluvsk8, your first instinct was right in this case. The "leather" probably WAS plastic. And genuine Coach bags don't fall apart the way the fakes do so when you see a strap almost coming off or torn seams or a broken zipper, DON'T buy it, unless you have it authenticated at the Authenticate This Coach thread first and check with the forum experts to see if the problems can be repaired.
