I don't have any pictures of this, but I find it... hilarious... sad... infuriating... incomprehensible in many ways.
Just got back from a cruise to the Bahamas. Engaged hubby in an ongoing game of "
Coach spotting" on-board. Saw a boatload (ahahhah get it - "boatload"?) of siggy swingpacks, most of which looked real except for one really obvious bad bad Fauxch. Spotted a lovely crimson op art Sophia and a couple well-preserved legacy bags. Saw some wristlets, for some reason most of these were black on black siggy...This was on the way TO Nassau.
Nassau has a well-known "Straw Market" which has booths with tons of counterfeit bags. Knowing this, I told hubby I bet the Fauxch quotient would rise on the way back. Boy did it ever! And ugleeeeee... ugggggggggggggggggggleeeeeeeeeee! Gals just pranced right off board sportin' the new bag like it was gold, I think they really thought they'd gotten a real bag.
The most confounding thing though - as we were heading back to the ship from our jaunt around Nassau (we didn't go to the Straw Market ourselves, but I had been there on a previous trip so I knew where/what etcetera)saw a group of very well-dressed folks, middle-aged women with their husbands, about 8-10 people obviously traveling together. The women all were carrying authentic designer bags, mostly Coach. The de facto leader, a lovely blonde lady, very well-dressed, was sportin' a Sequin Highlight and she wore it well. However - all the hubbies were laden down with plastic grocery bags filled with... you guessed it... heaps of bags from the Straw Market. You could see the siggy thru the plastic bag! I'm still trying to figure out... WHY? Why would you buy that crap when you obviously know what the good stuff is? Surely not for yourself - so are you going to give it as a gift? WHY? Why would you give that junk to someone you care about?
I'm still shaking my head. I guess it's one thing to get fooled because you don't know any better - but when you DO... why? Why? WHY????
