I think it would be nice if it could go either way as well. Oh well...I ended up returning the small. I personally found it very hard to get in & out of unless you could use both hands. Even then, although I love the magnets as an alternative to metal snaps, It kept snapping shot. I think I'm too used to my Rogue where I can get in & out so easily. All that said, I think its a beautiful bag.

I noticed that too when I was in the store and though of all the coach bags that have that issue.
It was one of the first things I checked on the larger bag. Those handles lay flat when not being used. Now if they would just make wider shoulder straps...

I'm having a hard time picturing what you mean, but I'm also very particular about how handles hang.

I believe the previous poster meant that the handles didn't lie flat against the bag, but hang somewhere between up and down. Personally that wouldn't really bother me, but I have other pet peeves that probably wouldn't trouble most people either ;). Can't wait to see the Drifter in person!

I bought large Drifter earlier today (mixed leathers all black) although I had no intention of buying anything for a long time LOL...it is so elegant all in black. I have no black bags except Bucket mansur gavriel and YSL "easy". Drifter is all I wanted, a roomy bag with classy elegant yet new look...I was just wondering about hardware. I LOVE how black and matte hardware is and does not take away the spotlight of the bag but complement it beautifully. However, I am very afraid of rubbing and getting the black paint off and exposing light metal underneath. Does anyone have experience with this king of dark metal ? Bottega veneta makes black matte hardware but the metal is somehow black throughout, no rubbing exposes any other colour.

I agree about the wider shoulder straps!
I do think Coach has made a huge improvement in their handle/strap design though. In the past I passed over so many bags because the long strap made the handles not able to lie flat at all.

Has anyone purchased this wallet style? I saw them at the boutique a few weeks ago & they seem very nice. I'm in love with the purple :)

Also, the Glovetanned Leather Key Pouches that retailed $99 are gone from the website. That makes me upset- I wanted more!
