Coach has announced that on December 8th they will be showing their Pre-Fall 2019 1941 runway collection in Shanghai. The show will be called "Coach Lights Up Shanghai," and it aligns with Coach's 15th anniversary in China.
Stuart Vevers, creative director, notes that “is a big moment for Coach and for me personally. Shanghai is one of the most vibrant, youthful and contemporary cities I have ever visited. It has a distinct energy that is inspiring and exciting — just like New York. I’m most looking forward to taking the spirit of the new Coach and the attitude and energy of New York to Shanghai to connect in an exciting and memorable way.”
Per WWD, "The collection will feature specially designed accessories, ready-to-wear and sneakers created by Coach creative director Stuart Vevers in collaboration with important Chinese cultural figures."
The brand President adds that Shanghai was selected "as the venue for our first dual-gender runway show outside of New York City in recognition of the important relationship with have with Chinese consumers."
I, for one, am really looking forward to this show. I feel as though Coach 1941 has been on the Western magpie image for three seasons too many. Hopefully we'll see a new design direction and fresh Coach vibes come out of this.
