Clueless beginner-how to collect jewelry?

Start window shopping but do NOT buy until you have gone to several places to get a sense of what you like. My advice is quality over quantity for basics. Dont just spend 1000 a year to spend it. Save up for something timeless. Dont be afraid to buy pre-owned either especially for things like say diamond studs or a gold bangle.


Agree & you can't go wrong with studs, a classic pearl earring & a
beautiful bangle..

All timeless & easy to build on...
 
Bulgari or Carrera y Carrera have some reasonably priced pieces, though Tiffany is probably more accessible.

However, please stay away from Blue Nile. My daughter and I both found out the hard way that the gold is brittle, probably from poor manufacturer and/or processing.
