Hello, I haven’t made a Chanel bag purchase in forever so this will be a first in a long long time! I’m hoping this one is real from Craigslist (I know it’s as sketchy as the Bay but I’m hoping this one is good):

- Item name: Chanel medium flap with gold hardware
- Serial number: 19558???? Seller crossed off the last few digits because she was afraid someone would steal her pics so hopefully this is okay?
- Listing number: N/A because this is a Craigslist

Pics not sufficient. Picture of the sticker needs to be extremely up close, sharp, glare-free and showing all digits. Pics of all other required markings needs to be non-angled/forward facing, glare-free and in macro mode. See post # 2 for list.

When you post back with new pictures, please make sure to either resubmit all previous info/pics, or quote your initial request/previous posts, so I have all pertinent info pertaining to your request contained in one post.

Thanks @ironic568 for all the hard work you do around here seriously. Not just saying it because I have a pending request but because I just saw pages and pages of authentication requests and you go through them ALL on your free time to do everyone a favor. Hello Forum!

I am new to the forum so please bear with me I hope I uploaded all information necessary.

While helping my mom clean out her attic, we came across this Chanel handbag. I asked her if it was real, but my mom has never been big into fashion and simply said her great aunt gave it to her in 1982-1983 for her birthday. My great aunt was a fashionable lady, which makes me believe it could be real.

Since my mom is clueless when it comes to fashion, she never took care of the bag as it should have been. She did not store it in a special place or protect it in a dust bag. It's been in our attic, not shielded from the elements, since 2001, and before then, my mom used it off and on. The leather (or what i think is leather) is in really great condition for being stored in a humid/dusty attic. I hope the pictures and general timeline of when the bag was new will help in authenticating this bag.

In doing my own research, I found that this bag does have a YKK zipper, stitching seems to be quality, evenly spaced, all around, and the tassel seems to be similar to those used in the 1980's. Also, there is no cloth lining in the bag, it is a leather interior as well.
