Hi TPFers! Just got this clutch today and I have a niggling feeling that its a fake  so before I march down to the shop and ask for a refund, can someone please let me know if it's really a fake?

If any experts can help me with this, I will be very grateful! Thanks so much for your help!!

(Please also let me know if you need more pictures!)

I have a black Skull clutch and it is for sure authentic and it has red interior! The Bay is a BIG gamble when it comes to clutches. Good Luck.

Did you get your clutch on eBay??? I haven't seen a single clutch on their site or collections that have a dark material outside with a red interior... This is the only clutch I am finding with a red interior.

I think the red looks great but these ones on eBay are probably fake. And I believe it especially because the sellers get so defensive when I ask them where the bags are from and that I am going to take it down the street from me to MQueen store off La Cienega. So yes if you got that clutch from eBay take it in for authentication...

No, I purchased mines at a high end boutique in Dallas. I have seen very few people with my style clutch and it wasn't carried at any of the US McQueen boutiques per my SA's confirmation. She even said she never saw it before. I will post pics a little later. I know a fellow TPFer here managed to get the same exact clutch as me on the Bay (how lucky) for a great deal. If McQueen will authenticate it for you, then by all means have it checked out.

I have this clutch, purchased from AMQ in UK. They black ones, depending on the size of the python skin, come with black and also red interior. I looked and looked and looked for the perfect bag, went to many boutiques in the UK and the one I chose was this one exactly. I love the contrast!

Hi everyone, I have been absent from TPF for a while but I need your help. I have come across several Alexander McQueen clutches on eBay that the sellers will not tell me a straight answer as to whether or not they are fake. This really upsets me because I was looking forward to buying one of those awesome knuckle duster clutches for an event I have coming up. One seller got down right nasty from this link :

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alexander-M...741?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2c61784bf5

I got her to arrange a buy it now price for me and she said she would send it out first thing monday. Then I said I needed her to assure me that the bag is authentic and told her that I would take it to the McQueen store to make sure when it arrived. This upset her very much. She refunded my money and said she would no longer do business with me :hrmm:...

These other links are to items that the sellers also do not claim to be selling authentic items. I hate replicas, counterfeits, fakes, knock-offs and any other name you can call it but what I hate more is people trying to sell these items by ommitting the truth and charging very high prices for bootlegs. Keep real on some sense. Geez. So here I am trying to find out the truth and I was wondering if the lovely ladies and gents of TPF can help me find the truth and stop these people throught eBay reports, so they can no longer sell these items and make a profit from the designs of the late Alexander McQueen. RIP. Please get back to me asap so I can figure out my next move. Here are the rest of the links to the auctions. And notice that all the auctions are from Illinois. Coincidence? or ...

Please let me know what your opinion is. Let's make and keep eBay conterfeit-free!!!
These items are all fakes. Beware of sellers on Ebay with low seller feedback ratings....under 1000 to me is not a reputable seller. I tried to ask this seller (da5333) a question about this clutch, and the question would not even go through. If all else fails, go with your instinct. I am with you Ellen, I think these two sellers might even be the same person, as they are both from Illinois and to my knowledge there is no AMQ retailer in Illinois. The only ones I know of in the US are NYC, Las Vegas and Beverly Hills (Melrose).

Sorry to tell you it's a fake sweetie. Any McQueen clutch in a bluish grey metallic box with gold embossed McQueen logo is fake. Also the grey dustbags with blue McQueen logo is also a giveaway that it is fake. 95% of the McQueen clutches on ebay are unfortunately fake. Even if it is genuine python skin doesn't mean that it is real. They make fakes of these also using real python skin :(

Hi. I don't want to be the devil's advocate here, but did you know that there are 2 manufacturers of AMQ merchandise? One is at the World Headquarters in the UK, but the big factory for leather goods is in Italy. I read your statement about the color of the box and the dustbag and I wanted to interject that I purchased an AMQ clutch from a boutique in Essex, London and if they are selling fakes, it is unbeknownst to me because the box is that gunmetal gray and the dustbag is gray with blue print on it. But I sure did get it from an AMQ boutique. I was also told that these clutches have been around for 15+ years. I was told specifically that the packaging CAN differ from where the product was manufactured. I have done extensive research into this as I have wanted to buy an AMQ clutch off of Ebay instead of paying full price at a boutique or NM. However, the one thing I have learned is that you get what you pay for, and if you want the real thing...be prepared to fork over the dinero for it. If you are only willing to pay under $1000, be prepared to buy a replica. Toodles! :graucho:

Very true indeed. I guess they must come in different packaging. In saying that, if you research the fakes they are all done with the metallic grey/blue box with gold embossed logo. So to be on the safe side when buying on eBay I would stick to the traditional grey box, but as semisweetness mentioned this doesn't mean the later is a fake. Perhaps another method to help would be to see if has "made in Italy" in tiny writing embossed into the box underneath in the corner. Mine has this and I purchased it directly from AMQ in NYC. Do the gunmetal grey ones have it also semisweetness? Also the interior of the box on the fake ones is usually just white and very messily constructed.
