Oh no...this is terrible news about the rose gold! I vaguely remember reading something about rose gold on a past thread, but I thought it just had to do with shades initially not being the same...didn't realize that it's fading over time! Is this a common occurrence with Tiffany rose gold? I'm worried now because I just got my first two rose gold pieces last year (Peretti Open Heart and T Hoops) and had a few on my Christmas list this year too. I do remember reading issues about Rubedo years ago as well, but thought that was different as well. Yikes! Would you recommend abandoning ship on the rose gold and exchanging for YG if I get more pieces this holiday season?

Sorry...didn't mean to hijack the thread. I'm also interested in your question about cleaning rose gold if my current pieces begin to fade!

Rose/pink gold changes color over time no matter the brand--that's just the nature of the metal. It's still pretty (imo), but if you want more color-fastness so to speak, yellow gold might be the way to go.

As tulipfield said, I think it’s pretty much inevitable. I’ve heard of other people saying the same about Tiffany and Cartier rose gold in particular. Honestly it’s not too noticeable once wearing them, but you can see it side by side. And I like both rg and yg so I don’t entirely mind the rg fading because then the color difference next to yg is less stark.

Supposedly, getting the piece professionally polished (which removes a tiny amount of gold) restores the color, but I’d rather not pay for the service if I can get similar results at home, which is why I’m on this thread! But IMO if you truly love rose gold more than yellow gold, stick with it. My faded rg is still visibly rose. But if you like both rg and yg equally, yg wouldn’t experience this problem.

@tulipfield and @iusen ...thank you so much for the information. I had no idea that this was typical of all rose gold...bummer.

@iusen , it's good to know that I can get it professionally cleaned and potentially get the color restored a bit. I like RG and YG equally, but the RG looks especially flattering on my skin tone (I'm a natural redhead, so the copper shade of it just kind of "works" with my freckles, lol). Funny thing is, I've had RG on my wishlist for years, but my husband never bought any for me because he said he thought it was too trendy and I'd get sick of it, but he finally caved last year. I had the lion charm on my wishlist this year though, and my spidey sense is telling me that's what he picked...so we'll see I guess.

Thanks again for the info! It is much appreciated. :)

I have a number of tiffany silver pieces and was wondering if there's a charge to take them in to Tiffany's to get it cleaned and if so, is it per piece or do they just tell you at the end based on time?
