Hi everyone! I would like to buy a classic watch, one that I will enjoy for a very very long time. As I don't know much about watches, I would love your opinions on this watch.

I'm currently leaning towards the Cartier tank française, but I don't if should buy the small or medium version, steel or two tone.
I also like the Tank solo (yellow gold, leather strap) and Tank anglaise (small, steel).

Which Cartier would you prefer? Or do you think in this price category there are better options?

I wear my Cartier BB medium quite often. My I adooooooooore the beauty of my Tank Solo small in gold with leather. It's absolutely gorgeous and so classic! I feel like a reall lady when wearing it!

If you can, go for two tone. I have tank francaise in ss and i wear YG love bracelet and sometimes it bothers me that the color is not co- ordinated.

Hi there.
Just wondering if you still feel this way or if you're now happy with your SS Tank Francaise?
I am considering a Tank Francaise and I prefer the look of the SS but I wear only YG jewelry (though they are small and/or with diamonds) and I cna't decide if I'll be ok with a steel watch or not.

Vote for the two tone tank francaise! I have mine for four months now and it has been truly versatile.

Fast forward to almost two years of ownership, I am still very contented with my two tone medium that I started to sell off my other watches. Even the steel Tank Louis. I swing between rose gold/yellow gold and white gold a lot so that having the two tone really helps! I am saving up to buy a Rolex (hopefully by ex) but I will still go for the two tone.;-)

Good to know. I hope you get your Rolex soon.

I am ok with my SS tank francaise but i wish i had gotten the two toned instead. I just thought to myself that maybe YG tank solo with leather strap would be a better choice. MAYBE that will be next on my list :)

I have both bb and tank francaise in small size. The tank is pure classic but I got more compliments for my bb. I do worry about the bb being dated in ten years time or so. Having said that Duchess Kate wears Cartier BB and I think it will become the new modern classic.
Oh I adore the BB with diamond markers! Everytime you post a picture of it, I am reminded that I need this watch in my life - SOON!!! haha

Get it! :) You'll love it. I wanted the one in YG but my parents got me in ss for my birthday. I gratefully accepted it (who wouldn't). Hopefully one day I'll be a proud owner of all YG with diamonds. One can certainly dream :)

Thank you so much for getting back to me.
The Tank Solo in YG with leather strap was actually what got me looking for a nice watch but when I tried in on I didn't feel wowed by it and I realised I prefer a chain strap.

I went and tried both the SS and the two tone TF last week and I am definintely warming to the two tone. It just makes sense with my other jewelry, kwim?
Since I started looking I've seen quite a lot of ladies wearing YG jewelry with a SS watch and while I find it gorgeous, I'm just not sure it wouldn't bother me after a while.

Yes, that's the dilemma isn't it? While ss watch looks gorgeous, it's the whole co-ordinating it with your YG jewelry that's an issue. I was fine at first with mixing my ss watch with YG jewelry but somewhere along the road, I began to feel that it's not the look that I am going for.
Therefore whenever I wear any ss watch, I tend to take off my YG love bracelet and wear my silver jewelry instead with the exception of my VCA MOP because I though that the white of MOP can balance the ss watch. Thankfully, I have a pass down two toned Omega watch which I'll wear whenever I'm in the mood for my YG jewelry (and I can wear it with my silver jewlry as well). That is exactly why I feel that the two toned watch will serve you with a better purpose due to it's versatility. I hope this helps, at the end of the day it is still your choice and I'm just here to give you some input from my experience.
P/S: Do take as much time as you need before deciding which one is the right one for you and good luck :)
