I love wearing a pendant 24/7, but the one I have now is more a “trend-driven” style - a baby lock on a paperclip chain like Marla Aaron’s designs. I’m now 50+ and would like to change it for something more timeless, more classic that I can wear as “signature” look. I actually prefer something not recognizable as designer like a Love. Am drawn to circles, pave diamonds, fluid somewhat sensual shapes, discs/compasses.

Here are some styles I like….I’ve purposely not included the name of the makes as that may sway opinions. What do you like as most timeless and interesting? Do you have other suggestions in a similar style?

Secondary questions too: I’ve used pictures of yellow gold here but right now I’m wearing all white as my watch and wedding set, and all bag hardware are all white. But I’m beginning to think that with my olive skin tone maybe I should go yellow? This would mean a bit more of an investment over time to switch key pieces to yellow, and I would always be two-tone as I wouldn’t change my wedding set. Also I’m very casual so maybe sticking with white is best?

Also, have considered a thicker chain, such as a 3 mm rope or cuban link chain, as an everyday necklace instead of pendant. Any thoughts on pendant vs just chain?

All opinions welcome! TIA!

For your 1st question: There are kind of 2 definitions of an "everyday" piece.

1) you love it so much, no matter the design, that you wear it everyday
2) it is classic in design, in that it is simple and "timeless"; it will always be in style and go with everything

Your circular/circle pendants are more classic in design.
But if you love something enough, it will become your everyday piece!

I too agree with @A bottle of Red and think a diamond solitaire is a very classic design. It is not tied to any brand name. It is a simple yet elegant and classic piece that goes with everything and lasts forever. I wear mine everyday, and I get a lot of comments on how my diamond sparkles beautifully! However, if it doesn't speak to you, don't feel that you have to get it.

Of all the photos you have, I like the round disk of pave diamonds the most. Probably because I really like diamonds lol. But also, it's one in which the main piece is not looped into a chain. I personally do not like the rubbing of a chain on a piece like the 1st and 3rd photo.

For your 2nd question: I think you'll need to go and try on yellow gold to see how it suites your skin tone and how it goes with the rest of your jewelry. If you're still undecided, take photos and look at them from time to time to help you make a decision.

I used to be all about wearing only one kind of color, but now I don't care as much and enjoy mixing and matching.

Tastes and preferences change with time, you'll never know what you'll like down the road!

Thanks @A bottle of Red and @lill_canele ! Both of you have mentioned a diamond solitaire, which I had also been considering, but in some ways that for me, I just don’t find them to have much interest…as in a personal signature, kwim? I love them but also want this pendant to be somewhat unique.

I do have a .4 princess cut loose diamond…was thinking of getting something done with it like having it embedded in a circle. Hmmmm….?

I’d vote for #1 (Cartier I think?) or #3 (David Yurman). The circle designs would be more versatile than the other distinctive shapes, yet they still are interesting and substantial.

Btw a diamond solitaire necklace does not represent a “signature” piece to me in any way. Total yawn in my opinion.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always loved necklaces. I simply feel bare without one. I am in my late 40s and my everyday pendant is either my T & Co bean or VCA MOP depending on the metal tone I prefer to wear on a given day.

Those are both gorgeous pieces! If I could swing it budget-wise I’d go for the pave bean…something about that shape is so simple yet so sensual. I love Peretti’s designs.

Thank you! Yes, there is something about circles that so speaks to me. #1 is actually Tiffany - Paloma Picasso’s Melody collection - and #3 is indeed DY.

You said you “actually prefer something not recognizable as designer.” So maybe move beyond Cartier/Tiffany/Roberto Coin/David Yurman/etc.? Looking around among the lesser-known brands and designers could help you find your “signature” everyday piece.

For instance here are some pendants in white gold from Sethi Couture. See this thread for other designer ideas: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/looking-for-a-new-designer.1024399/ There are so many options out there, because every designer is doing a lot of pendants and “amulets” right now.

Thank you…this is what I meant! Off to dive into that thread!

I wear 2 necklaces each day a simple WG solitaire and a vca necklace with a single rose gold motif. I think it looks nice as a set. Not too flashy but still works for nearly every outfit. It is nice because it matches all my jewelry so I don’t have to switch it out when I change rings and earrings.
