congrats on your purchase! I too was interested in the barenia kelly but condition was awful in my opinion...
I cant believe the bi colour box and croc kelly went for $30,000!!!

Thank you, I have shoes that almost match the colour and it is one that I can use all year! I agree on the barenia and that is why I finally decided not to bid on it although it is the chocolate or the cocoan colours which I really have been looking for. Have you seen any cocoan besides the wonderfully gorgeous and pristine 35 cm Birkin (lot 126) that sold today? I am only 5'2" and I look silly when I go over 32 cm MAXimum size for me--like a child dragging her Mom's too heavy bag. The 40 cm chocolate is bigger than my carryon airplanes bag!

In my honest opinion, I think that some people selling from their own collection check the current retail prices for size and leather and somehow forget that they have been using (and in some cases, beating up) their Hermes handbags. So they set their "Reserve" prices too high for reality and for someone buying a bag that she has not personally selected every feature.

But that is only my opinion from seeing condition reports and the bags themselves and the escalating auction prices.

Are you going to Paris for the Hermes sale in June? Are you in London? Do you know when the Hermes sale is in London for Spring/Summer?

So did you bid successfully today or not?

My experience with buying thru auctions has been pleasant... however, one
must see the item up close & personal before purchasing as the condition
report is not always accurate... have worked with an agent in the past at
several auctions who has a standard that is up to mine with regard to condition,
so personally don't have an issue with buying au auction...

From my original comments I certainly buy from Christie's and I have sold through Christies (never a hand bag but sold sterling silver trays, oriental carpets, etc) and I find them very courteous and professional. But be prepared to ask questions and be sure you know about any possible hidden costs which you as the seller may have to pay---for example, Christie's suggested I frame my Tibetan thangka and it would sell higher--they gave me an estimate, I okayed it, and it sold very well.bon chance

^Yes, I agree with this. You need to factor in costs such as the premium you give to them for the sale, advertising costs and insurance. Other than that, the whole sale process is very easy and pleasant.
