My Bvlgari snakeskin wallet, very sturdy and has held up to frequent use.
My Bvlgari karung bag unfortunately did not. I rarely used it but the chains peeled the leather inside the flap and the flap came back from their service dented. It's heavy and a bit too elegant for my current lifestyle, though it is beautiful irl.

Nothing does well in direct sunlight or when the air is too dry/humid regardless of type of skin. Every type of natural skin and even manmade will discolour, crack, dry-out, rot, flake, peel or crumble if not kept in a moderate (neither too humid/dry nor hot/cold environment. Calf, goat, deer, lambskin, antelope, ostrich, lizard, bull calf, any type of croc, alligator, caiman, peccary, pigskin, boarskin, stingray or eel. Whip-snake, cobra, python, water-snake, ring lizard, Karung. All patents (leather) plastic, vinyl, rubber, bakelite, resin or lucite. Weight is also a consideration, eel is hardy but needs to be supported and stingray is hardy but heavy.

No leather or exotic should be:
Left in direct sunlight
Stored in boxes longterm
Stored in plastic

Both are beautiful. I'm sorry th chains peeled the leather inside the flap, that sounds like a design fault, not the materials separately but not considered regards function when used together.

Thank you for your comprehensive answer!
I definitely don't keep my bags in sunlight anymore and never kept them in boxes or plastic. At least that much sense I had 😅
I should've learned this information long ago, but since I did not I'm trying to learn now in order to care for my stuff.
I live in a climate that goes from very dry to extremely humid so I try to use a humidifier or dehumidifier on occasion, in addition to the forced air in the closet.
It's a small room really and I try to keep the door open so the air can circulate better.
I'm not sure if those machines are a good idea or not; I use them once or twice a season.

Yes it's a shame about the Bvlgari and the lack of customer care but what can one do?

One more question, is it a problem to use the bags walking around outdoors when it's super sunny/ hot and humid? Can that damage the leather or patent leather ?
Or is that only if it's stored in such conditions?

(Just trying to figure out what bags to use in the summertime. )

And since I'm a firm believer in posts with pretty pictures, here are a few of my exotics.

The black is a Coach Rogue in Gator . I adore this bag, small but fits a lot is lightweight and so easy to use.
The burgundy is Michael Kors Collection in snakeskin.
Also very lightweight and practical, I love it.
Each radiating a distinct charm that captivates the heart and inspires the soul ):

Think of how sun damage to your own skin develops slowly overtime…

Leather will change a bit as it is exposed to the sun and that’s completely normal. (Nothing is new forever and patina is 100% natural and inevitable)

If a bag is exposed to extreme humidity then it’s a good thing to store it back at home for a while to dry out properly before using it again!

Thank you that does help!
I'm only living in this place a few years and I'm still not used to the sun and humidity being so much stronger and more damaging to my skin and to things I own. ( art supplies being affected and behave differently is another big one )
