I've seen some really old stuff possibly from the early 1900s, like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEWEY-ENGLA...IDE-LEATHER-EQUESTRIAN-HANDBAG-/171433475294? and this currently produced item: http://www.archiproducts.com/en/pro...ide-mouse-pad-numis-mouse-pad-pizzitutti.html

Very curious.
Coach hide is mentioned here under Boarded Leather

It looks like an old timey phrase used to describe saddlery quality leather? Maybe derived from stagecoach? Here's an ad from 1954 for a large bucket bag for $7.50 made from coach hide. Pretty cool.

this is really cool! It made me start googling the history of the bucket bag... Thanks for sharing!

How interesting! It makes me wonder if this is why they chose the name Coach for the company.

There's a facebook group called Coach Palace of purses and more and someone has a cute vintage baby blue bucket for sale. nma

Those are often faked. I wouldn't recommend buying it without getting it authenticated.
If it's the facebook account Purse Palace out of Tacoma, WA, most of what I looked at was fake -- ALL brands. (I didn't look at everything but most are obvious fakes.)

In fact, the pictures on that site look like a scene straight from Canal Street in NYC's Chinatown.

I picked up this one:

All of the "scrapes" on the bottom cleaned off easily with rubbing alcohol. But the handles are indeed quite damaged as was stated, and she was apparently packed by a deranged toddler. One of (if not the) worst packing jobs I've ever seen over many decades & various accounts buying tons of stuff on eBay; especially on an item that originally sold for $550. But all in all, I think this was a good deal on an $80 Madison Lindsey, and keeping that in mind, I'm quite happy with her.

After a little rehabbing, she came out like this:

Congratulations. She's stunning. How did you repair the handles?
