Chanel Stingray leather quality issue

I checked mine and although the scales are slightly bumpy and there is a slightly raised bit in the middle which I think is the spine? The stingray part is fairly taught against the bag and doesn't have any movement that could cause waves.
Did you pop back to the boutique? If there is a problem I'm sure they can exchange it.
For what it's worth stingray is the most amazing and hardwearing leather. After over 18 months of pretty heavy use including days at a time rubbing against jeans, zips etc the exterior of my bag still looks brand new. So definitely worth investing in!

Exactly bumpy scales and a bit raised middle is pretty sure normal but I have big waves on top of that. I'll call today and see if I can go next Sat. Thanks for your help!

Totally normal! I purchased my stingray woc in July and had the same concern. Its sort of indented and not flat. I asked my SA and she said it's normal. I think she called it the "eye" of the stingray and varies between bags. I googled and found similar images. Here's mine. Not sure if you can see in the pics but the surface is definitely not flat.

From the stingray bags I've seen, the middle is always a little raised, but yours appears to have more ripples/waves than normal. It looks at if the stingray skin/leather wasn't pulled taut enough. It's very noticeable. I would definitely exchange if it bothers you. It really is a pretty Boy otherwise!

Finally some updates.
The CS sent me an email saying that they cannot repair so they'll issue a credit note.
When I gave them the bag for quality inspection, I asked the sa to keep one other exact same model aside for me in the case the CS doesn't give my bag back. So I'm finally back with another Boy in the same size and color but without the flows.
What's crazy about that is that I had to wait more than 2 weeks (without my bag) until they (CHANEL) finally give me a replacement !!!

My stingray boy is raised in the middle a tad too.. My SA says this is typical of stingray
