Hi everyone, unforunately I am being outpriced by Chanel chlassic bags even second hand but luckily I have one classic flap maxi which I really love and adore. Even seasonal pieces in the boutique have nowadays a hefty price tag as far as I can see. Do you buy seasonal bags? I am looking into seasonal pieces on the second market and I think over 2000 euros for a preloved bag is a lot. Do you buy those? Is there a market, when I want to sell a seasonal bag? Do you think the market is tend to stick with the classical pieces? What is your opinion. I bought a pr loved bag from the 2017 collection- and love it. But wonder, if this was a wise investment

I think there will always be a market for classics especially the neutral colors or highly sought after colors. I only have one seasonal bag (the one called Coco First) but otherwise my collection is made up of classics, reissues, boy, 19 etc. It depends on whether you are looking to build a collection or looking to resell - and if you do find a seasonal bag you love and will wear, go for it!

I never bought a preloved bag, always new in store so I have no idea if they resell well BUT I do love buying seasonal. Even way more than classic bags. Because I already have my classic bags collection and I just want to have fun. I don't have an unlimited amount of money but if I did, I would definitly bought some piece preloved, especially if they are really unique. There's also less fake seasonal bags, especially those who are difficult to make. So it would also seems more trust-worthy on the second market.

Also, for some seasonal bags, you can definitly see the hard work behind it, especially with Lesage or Montex work on sequins and embroideries. It can be more expensive compare to classics (more 20k than 2k) but the crafting is way better and so impressive ! Those seems like true art pieces and there's a market for those. It would probably won't sell as fast as the classic flap though.

Now, speaking about investment, I think it's often a wrong use of the word. Except if you can make money out of the selling, it is not an investment. It doesn't apply with Chanel bags anymore. It's more about how your purchase seems relevant to you which is personal and depends on your lifestyle.

I like the seasonal collections a lot. Never understood the weirdness around them. A beautiful bag is a beautiful bag. Some of the seasonal pieces can be wacky but others are timeless!
Totally agree. A beautiful bag is a beautiful bag. Seasonal or not. Think of it reversely, seasonal bags are rare and special. I like a special detail or a special color. I don't understand the fascination of why everything has to be classics.

I personally love seasonal bags! I see them as "special editions". Classics are beautiful, as well, but I'm always drawn to seasonal pieces. In fact, the only classic piece I own is a WOC, but it's in a bright seasonal color. Seasonal styles & colors are unique, fun, and may be one-of-a-kind now or later. I have one seasonal bag that has tripled in price on the resale market:shocked: I'd never sell it, though, but just to let you know that not everyone is looking for a classic. Enjoy your bag!

In general, seasonal bags have less of a resale value than the classic line bags, BUT it really depends how popular the bag in question is. As much as I love the classics, there are so many fabulous seasonal bags being released.
I bought this seasonal bag this past November from the 23C collection. It is kind of the best of two worlds since it has some of the characteristics of a classic flap, but is MUCH more functional. It is a perfect length to be worn crossbody (I am 5’4” tall) and is in caviar. It is a single flap, so it is easy to get into, and is bigger than my minis so I can bring my necessities plus a little more. And the CC details on the chain is a fun addition.

I submitted it for a quote at a popular resell site, and they offered me about a thousand less than I paid for it, which is very good. I am debating if I should let it go only because I bought two more bags, a rtw jacket, several pairs of earrings, a belt etc. since I bought this one, AND I am going to France this summer, so I know I will be shopping there. So I really should let one bag go.

But to answer your question, this seasonal bag is a great bag and I could recoup most of my money if I decide to sell it.

Personally, if I can afford it, when I find a handbag I love, I purchase it. Of course classics are always my favorites, but I have seen many seasonal pieces that I love and maybe in the near future will add to my collection. I find now, some seasonal pieces are sometimes more difficult to get than some classics . Tbh when I buy my bags, I am not thinking about the resell value and have never bought one preloved but I don’t discard the option in the future. GL deciding.

I have way more seasonal bags than classics. I never bought them with the intention to sell. However, over the years tastes change so I have sold a few seasonal bags. They don't hold value like classics, but they do hold value better than other brands like Prada, Gucci, etc. The more the season bag has classic characteristics the better it is at holding value. It also depends on the color too.
