Hi!

I’m just curious as to whether or not Chanel implement a monthly or bimonthly purchase limit within the U.K.

I want to buy 3 small leather goods - a coin purse / pouch and card holder but purchased a bag last month and wanted to check if this would make a difference? I don’t want to go walking into the shop and getting turned away which could be a bit embarrassing! I’ve reached out to a SA but haven’t heard anything back as yet.

Thanks

I bought a boy bag earlier in March then a flap on 25th March and they spotted it (after I've paid...erm?) and requested manager's approval. However I bought both in New Bond store, when asked in Selfridges they said not a problem to buy a second item. Not sure though what's the limit on SLGs combined with bags.

Yikes!!’ I’m glad the manager approved it for you then!! It was Selfridges that have advised me of the limit, so I’m glad I know before I go in and find out when I try and buy at least!

It happened to me twice so maybe it's just to scare off resellers? I'm sure it's not going to be embarrassing - you have £, they don't want to sell. Who should be embarrassed lol. All those rules seems to be arbitrary/nonsense - somehow internet is full of legit brand new Chanel and Hermes bag so wonder whether there are equal and more equal.

I know! I do wonder!! I can go for years not seeing one I like, I find the seasons hit and miss for my taste, but all at once the release a style or colour I like, plus downgrading my bag sizes means needing smaller leather goods! I’ll see what happens next!

Hi
The limit is 1 bag every 60 days and 2 small leather goods every 60 days. You can get around it by asking someone else to make the third SLG purchase on your behalf in their name. If you have developed a relationship with your SA they will override the selling limits with managers approval. Hope that helps!

That's correct- I've mentioned that I purchased the earlier bag (and some bag in the past) from the same SA

It's exactly what happened - came for a boy, saw a perfect seasonal flap and they only had like last 2. Not sure why I'd have to pass lol.

Yes this is correct. I invariably get around it as I’m known at my boutique but they still have to get manager authority or approval before ringing them through the till. I do wonder though as I’ve seen others buy lots. As I’ve said before I think they bend the rules as and when they feel like it.

I hate this rule. Why the hell can I not buy two bags at the same time when I like them....and have to choose JUST ONE

This used to really annoy me as well but they have put it in place to try and prevent resellers buying all the popular bags when each collection launches. Now that I have developed a good relationship with my SA I don't have to worry about it as she knows I'm not a reseller and the manager is always happy to approve. Thats why its better to try and keep going back to the same person if you can or at least keep in touch with them in between collections. The only problem is when I want to buy something from another boutique where I perhaps don't know anyone - in this case I get my husband to put it on his name. It is annoying though as I would like all my purchases under my own name for my purchase history.

I do this but I find the double standards annoying as there are clearly others who are buying much much more over the limit and it’s okay
