Chanel losing brand value in Korea

Just my personal experience that as my obsession with Chanel went down, I started buying other luxury brands. It seems like other brands like Dior's Lady Dior and Caro bags, and the Fendi exotic peekaboos and Fendi first clutches are more scarce and aesthetically pleasing than Chanel's seasonal bags. As soon as Chanel's seasonal bags are released, you will find 5 bags sold to FP. I remember the caramel 19, FP had so many of those at one point as well as the iridescent bags. I hardly see a Fendi first clutch being sold in there or an exotic peekaboo. So my theory is these ultra wealthy are bored and turned off with Chanel because you can easily buy a classic flap online whenever you want to, it's not really that scarce anymore. A friend of mine just told me that her store in Cali had a lot of black classic flaps available.

Ah interesting, I guess you and I have a bit of different experience. I don't know too much about Fendi but I do love Dior. I recently started getting into Chanel. I love the Fendi peekaboo but haven't bought one yet... the resale value of the peekaboo is fairly low so I might end up getting one pre-loved. The Fendi First is a unique bag but it looks a bit too trendy for my taste and seems difficult to use in daily life (at least my daily lifestyle).

This is based off my late 2021/early 2022 experience but it's been pretty hard getting caviar classic flaps in small or medium. I had to wait about a month recently to get a black classic flap in GHW and the 3 stores I hit up in the US Northeast only had a handful of various classic flaps in store. Every store is essentially out of stock of almost all SLGs.

On the other hand, I shop at Dior often and I love Dior. Unless you're buying a limited edition Lady Dior, everything else is pretty simple to get and can usually get it on the spot. I've bought a saddle and 2 lady diors recently and they always have tons of stock in various colors. Off topic but I just bought the navy blue wicker lady dior and I can't wait to use it.

Although fascinating, this isn’t surprising.

Chanel on a release day feels like shopping at Best Buy during after-Christmas sales, not luxury (I was curious, went once and was completely turned off from the brand).

Not to say I will never buy Chanel again but it would have to be a very, very special piece you don’t see everywhere.

The future will be small bespoke workshops making tailor made items at the highest quality level without a need to cater to investors. Social media has made it easier than ever for small manufacturers to have a platform to reach an international customer base with ease.

More and more people seem to be disillusioned by the reality of the luxury industry ruled by a select few conglomerates.

Recently, I've ordered some commissions from some local ateliers. Gotta say it's pretty cool to work with them to design something custom tailored to your needs and that will be one-of-a-kind. Also makes me happy to support small businesses. One of the commissions is a purse charm for my boy that will fit my pixel buds so I definitely think there's room for both in the world. I have yet to receive my items and see how they stand the test of time, but I can definitely see the appeal. Even more so with how much luxury prices have increased and how difficult it's become to even have a chance to buy certain items. Luxury shopping these days feels so stressful

I was just at my Neiman store in Tampa and they have a LOT of small and medium classic flaps in both hardware. I can give you my SA's info, just pm me.

I own Chanel bags for the love of the brand and its aesthetic but I don’t wear them everywhere.
This may be one example to explain why we don’t see them that much.
Chanel has a strong lady like design and becomes quite delicate theses days after the price has skyrocketed. So they are not the bags I would think of when running in errands.

BTW, I think Chanel still has charm for us who always love the brand. However, many necessary improvements are needed to be able to stay at the same top level.
