Chanel J12 vs Rolex

I wear my Rolex daily and it still doesn't keep time and we have a watch winder. Rolex is known for not keeping time, it's more of a jewelry, statement piece. I'm on my 3rd Rolex, hubby has one and everyone I know who has one, says the same thing.

I am not disputing Rolex is a watchmaker and Chanel is for fashion, just saying the Chanel keeps better time-period, from my own experience after owning both Chanel J12 and several Rolex. I didn't wear my Chanel for almost a year and it still had perfect time. I ended up selling the Chanel because I bought my HG diamond pearlmaster which I love, but it still doesn't keep time. Sent it in to Rolex to fix and it still is about 5 minutes off.

I am on this one with you for sure. I bought my dad a Rolex for his 55th b-day 1.5y ago yet he keeps complaining that his watch doesn't keep time perfectly. My mom and I own J12 for more than 2y now and it's keeping time perfectly. The ONE rolex is more expensive than our TWO J12.

OP, go with what you love. Rolex really isn't all it appears...

Just curious, not to switch topics but the Nay sayers for Rolex,….Are the Rolex you're having troubles with keeping time, are they authentic? I have 2 Rolex watches and they keep perfect time, and never a problem. However, I wear mine all the time with the exception of sleeping, so six to seven hours off wrist. If you are wearing Rolex only some of the time, or every other day, they will not keep accurate time because they are "automatic" meaning your wrist movement winds the watch.

OP --Spend your money where you'll have not regrets, no matter what it is.

I have both but I wear the Chanel most of the time. I think the Rolex has a casual appearance and the Chanel has more of a wow appearance. Both have diamonds but I like the look of Chanel much better. I haven't worn the Rolex in over a year.

Yes, my Rolex is authentic purchased from an AD. If you read my post, I stated Rolex serviced it and it still does not keep time. I would never buy a fake anything, it's almost offensive to insinuate ...

I love my watch and I better since I spent a fortune, but I need to set the time every few months or its off a few minutes.

Sorry -- should have clarified that what I meant was in case you bought from ebay, etc., maybe it could explain the problems. That's what I meant. I did not mean to offend anyone or imply that you had less than a perfect Rolex.

As for the "not keeping time" vs. "keeping time" this is because Rolex has a real clockwork and the Chanel does not. No real clockworks will keep time perfectlly, some are better tuned than others but it is more or less luck if they keep time perfectly. I have 6 Rolexes and some are better than others, but I have to adjust them monthly to be somewhat accurate.
Chanel is a Quartz movement which runs on a battery and will keep perfec time. But for anyone who is in to watches, the charm is completely gone with a quartz movement. Another thing is that a real clockwork will work for generations, a quartz movement will not. Personally, I would never even consider a quartz movement watch, even thoug I recognize that they are better at keeping time and do not stop if you stop waering it for a couple of days. I just love the thought about owing a real watch with real clockwork ticking its way on to future generations.

I would go for the Rolex over Chanel....Im not sure which model Rolex your thinking about, but I do agree with Imgg that I have heard of issues with rolex maybe being a few minutes off every now and then...I may be in the minority, but I really only wear mine when I go out...sort of as a piece of jewelry.......given that, I would still choose my Rolex....:)
