@fab37541 its the small size. Here’s a photo comparing the black medium to the caramel small. Honestly the size difference is minimal. If you like to carry more go with the medium. The small carries quite a bit for its size already. Personally I found the small size more visually attractive.

I love the caramel! May i know your height? I am 5’8 and am not sure if I’ll be able to wear a small BA cross body...

@fab37541 Chanel rarely does browns, so definitely the color to get (black is always available). I’m 5’5. I would say crossbody for me hits at the top of my hip. I usually prefer to wear a bit lower than that in my crossbody bags, so the BA is the shortest I’d wear. At 5’8 the small may feel a bit short on you. I’d say go for the medium. Lots of BA reviews on YouTube and i noticed the girls were all 5’7 or taller and had the medium. I was actually planning to get the medium too but my store only had the small. I’ve noticed that Chanel bags tend to have shorter chains. I think it’s to be versatile to wearing on the shoulder too. Usually if it’s a perfect cross body then it’s too long on the shoulder. If you want a true crossbody, the mini rectangle and square are in caramel too this season. But i prefer the look of the BA myself (and the caviar!).

Hi Everybody,

i’ve been thinking about adding a new Chanel bag to my collection and i came across this one:
Black caviar BA - P21
2nd hand with al the safety stickers on the GHW
I believe its the small size
The price you can see on the picture

I’ve been looking for the longest time for a crossbody from Chanel and love the mini incognito in black. But the price is so steep. I bought my classic flap for the price of the mini caviar
Do you think this is a good alternative?
This would be my 2nd Chanel bag after a long saving time.
Thank you for all your help in advance.

If you really love the incognito, I’d put off this purchase and save up longer for it. If you choose something you like less as a cheaper alternative, you’ll still be thinking about the bag you actually want, even after buying the cheaper bag.

However, if you like the BA just as much, I’d recommend it! It’s a wonderful crossbody bag and works with all sorts of outfits. At the price of the secondhand, I’d contact a sales associate to ask if they could find a new one for you. The one in the picture is the medium/middle size. I’m not sure about prices in Europe, but in the US the the medium is $4100 which is about 3400 euro and I don’t think the BA is too hard to find. If you want the one thats closer to the size of a mini, the small size is $3900 (about 3200 eur)

Good luck with your decision!

Thank your for the quick respons and information. My goal is to have a practical bag for daily wear. (Which my classic flap isn’t)
I’ve seen a lot of reviews and the mini seems small which the BA isn’t also my husband isn’t a fan of the mini. As a knew mom i prefer fuctionality above aesthatic.
But i haven’t pulled the trigger because of the amount of money i’ll be spending. Anyways, i’ll stop rambling.

@ZofieUp I definitely recommend this bag as a practical every day bag. I had no interest in it until my store got it in in the Carmel (i really wanted this color in a bag). I had planned to buy the coco handle but when i compared them in the store I realized how impractical the coco handle is. IMO the BA is a good every day bag because it holds everything I need (i have the small), it’s caviar so I don’t have to be as careful, it has a top handle which is awesome for quick grabs getting in and out of the car, crossbody cuz you need your hands free with baby, and the flap and compartments are easy access. I find the look can be casual or dressy too. And agree the price point was an incentive for me as a daily bag vs special occasion. I have a chanel19 which is a great bag as well, but Lambskin and is kind of heavy when full. Not something I would want to carry around with a new baby.

All that said, Chanel’s price point is high. So if the price is a deterrent then you could look at something like LV. Their canvas is super durable. My rule with Chanel is i really gotta love it to buy it because they are ridiculously expensive. If you’re not sure, or feel like you are settling cuz u just want a second bag, I’d wait to get something else and buy from a different brand if you just want something right now.

@ZofieUp just wanted to add that you might want to wait to buy a new bag until you are more settled with baby. I bought the Gucci camera bag for a daily bag when I first had my son and ended up not using it after two times because I had to lug around a big diaper bag. I’d have both on me cross body because I needed my hands to carry baby and was a pain unloading and reloading, not to mention getting tangled up all the time. What i ended up carrying was just my diaper bag and a SLG pouch as my wallet inside of my bag. Something like LVs recto verso or trio pouch would be great. Chanel has lots of nice options too. I’ve had friends buy LV totes as diaper bags too. Might be worth asking yourself if you ended up not using the BA with baby right now if you would reach for it otherwise. If it’s not something you can see yourself loving for years down the line, it’s not worth investing in. All Chanel’s hold value, but BA isn’t as popular as other bags for resale so you will likely lose some value.

Hi, thank you for your insights.
A lot of food for tought...

I love a crossbody for daily use when working but I have to keep in mind that I have to carry my daughter and diaper bag as well. For that reason i was looking at mini’s and WOC’s. But my husband found the price too high in comparison with a BA. I don’t mind paying premium price if I know I will use it on a daily basis.

For the moment I use my LV PM and I love the amount of stuff I can put into it. But when I use it with the diaper bag, stroller and baby I find myself limited.

in conclusion:
-BA, love it for daily use, but now not practical with the baby stuff
- Mini incognito black, I smile from ear to ear but I find the price to high in comparison with the BA, LV, Celine,.... also I’ve just sold a crossbody with smaller dimensions than a mini.
- WOC, i haven’t tried it but seems handy in combination with the diaper bag and I hear a lot of people raving about it for holiday use.

and to end my dilemma, I want to avoid as much price increases as possible but don’t want to have an impulse buy.

@ZofieUp i had a Chanel woc and it’s the best of all wocs I’ve seen. The new model even has card slots under the flap. If you want something that you can throw in your diaper bag a woc is a great choice. It’s nice to be able to have all your essentials and important stuff in a portable bag that you can wear when you don’t want to lug your diaper bag (ie at playgrounds where you are chasing your kid around, or malls where you want to grab food and leave your stroller at the table, etc). The price is high on a woc but they are really functional and good slgs for a bag. I used to carry mine in my work backpack and it was perfect for lunches and breaks cuz it Holds everything you need. It’s also super handy for travel. There are a lot of ways to wear it too by adjusting the strap so can easily go from groceries to formal. The price is high but honestly it’s a super practical piece. I would definitely vote for a woc over a BA for new mom. Way better choice and you’ll get future use out of it. I actually just sold my Chanel classic woc because i want to get the new version with card flap and magnetic closure. Wocs also hold their value extremely well (get black/gold caviar) because it’s an entry level piece to Chanel. I bought mine 5 years ago and sold it for more than i paid!

@ZofieUp Now that my kids are a big bigger (4,5 and 1,5 years) the BA is perfect for my daily needs with kids in tow. But when my son was younger and I had to carry him in a baby carrier, I actually wore either the Celine trio (the leather strap and moldable puches made it fit nicely under the carrier without bothering me with any bulk, and despite it being lambskin, it held up amazing) or a simple backpack with his stuff in it.

Hi guys, I just received my caramel 21P business affinity but the colour isn’t what I expected, the photos I was sent and all the videos I’ve seen it’s a bit more richer in colour. I’m of south Asian origin and I feel as if it washes me out.

I’ve put it next to my small black coco handle for reference.

The bag is in pristine condition and spacious but the colour is just putting me off. I don’t own any coloured bags apart from my LV prints.

Any thoughts?

@bnessa93 I am asian and have this bag and love it (see my posted pic above). It seems this color is either love or hate this season. Some people find it looks orangey. I wasn’t sure myself from the pictures I was sent but I like the color in person. I actually find it a very neutral brown and don’t see orange at all. This caramel brown has been hugely popular, I’ve seen them sell on Instagram within minutes and there are waitlists for them in store. So, I am sure Chanel will do more brown bags in the future if this shade isn’t to your liking. Don't settle just because it’s an in-demand bag :)
