Chanel brooch advice for beginners

I have two and love them!! I’m already keeping my eye out for one or two more, especially in a darker/shiny ruthenium colour way, and I’m currently hunting some brooches from the Egypt collection (19A). Make sure you get a design (colour, material) that you really like and that you know you’d wear based on your personality, wardrobe, style, etc. Don’t get one just because it’s a Chanel brooch. I wear mine quite a lot, especially during the winter and early spring when I can put them on sweaters and wool coats (I got my first one in the winter so later this year will be the first fall season I’d play around with them). Sometimes I even wear more than one at once, or one on a coat and one on a sweater/cardigan under, etc. It’s all about having fun with them, and don’t take them too seriously as they’re costume jewelry anyway hehe! I enjoy how playful they are true to the Coco spirit :)

I like wearing them on more solid colour clothing, to add a bit of visual interest or focus, and I’ve never really had issues with pin holes, though like I mentioned I tend to wear them on knit sweaters or wool coats, but I’ve tried on other materials as well and so far really no issues. Sometimes they’re fun on things with some patterns, too. And while they can be playful, they can dress up an outfit quite well, too, such as on lapel of suit of jackets (I love this for attending events like weddings). When I want to wear them for a more dressed up or serious vibe, I wear them up right, and when I just want a fun fashion moment, I wear them tilted haha! They’re fun on denim jackets, too. And really in terms of cost per wear, I like them on hats, beanies, neck/collar of a shirt, even t-shirts, etc. The possibilities are endless depending on your vibe!

Haven’t had any crystal fall off either but my SA told me they’ll fix issues like that at no fee for up to two years from date of purchase. I think after that it’s for a fee.

I have two CC brooches, one gold and one silver. I bought the gold one preloved from a small local vintage store in Tokyo that's hidden away from tourists (the same brooch at stores catered towards tourists cost nearly x3 the price!). It's gold plated from the 80s and it still looks amazing. The silver brooch is modern with enamel sakura flowers and little pearls, no wear and tear so far.

I don't regret buying either because they elevate my outfits and makes them interesting especially when I'm wearing neutrals, but I don't wear them often because I don't like wearing too much obvious designer at once. If I were to buy more in the future, they'd definitely be non-CC.

Some other outfit ideas that you can try out is to wear them on turtle neck collars, wrap skirts/dresses where they're tied or sewn (this is my fav), with a skinny silk scarf in your hair for that coquette look.

Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts on this! I decided in December that I wasn't going to purchase one for the time being. I realised I should start with something cheaper to see if I'm a brooch-gal first, because as much as I love seeing Chanel brooches on others, I have a bad habit of buying gorgeous things I never wear! It's been lovely reading about your experiences with them and seeing the pics of your beautiful pieces. Enjoy them!
