Part of the reasons i think 12A red works is i only like red in SHW. To me, that’s more wearable. I have a vintage red in 24k gold plated and I don’t know how to wear it lol. But she is mine forever (and I told my sis I will pass down to her daughter next time, if she is even keen on C) and it’s also my very first C bag.

At today’s crazy C price, I think that shortlisted piece is at a very fair price point (~exactly the 2012 price). I’ll examine the bag first :smile:

I’ve bought at least 8 medium CFs in my active C days, in SHW/LGHW/GHW. Last standing is the GHW in black caviar. It’s the most beautiful piece of CF I’ve had owned. But, I don’t use it enough. I’ve been asking myself why and I believe it’s because it looks too formal in GHW. I want to wear a CF any day. Somehow medium CF in that combo doesn’t quite gel with my weekend mode.

Then suddenly boom, I saw a 12A red medium CF. Those who know 12A, know.

Does it fit into a more casual feel? It’s SHW obviously for that season. I wear my other red CF (jumbo SHW) casually too. I don’t think I’ll be tempted with any other red however we’re talking about 12A here. Ive been keeping my eyes open on this red for years. Thought not desperately seeking but now that it appears right before me, I have a chance to consider.

Do I sell the black to get this red or have both?

First, I would have both. The black will never go out of style and I think the older bags were better made. I say that because you inspired me to buy my first vintage bag—a 12A red medium flap! The leather seems softer and the chain less stiff than a 22K caviar medium flap that I bought in December. I just received the 12A red medium and will use it today. Please let us know what you decide to do.

I decided not to get another medium flap. I don’t use my black medium much and decided to use it for the whole of this week to see how I feel about adding one more medium. TBH I really dislike the size! It hardly can hold much. I’ll stick to jumbo :p

With jumbo price in preloved market plummeting (and the supply is ample), one piece strikes me. 11P Red. I’m still considering it. The price is great too.

The jumbo is 11P. It seems to have quite similar caviar texture to 12A. What do you think?

Oooh, that 11P red is GORGEOUS! Don’t tempt me. I really like the texture of the caviar on the 12A. It is softer and smoother than the newer caviar but seems sturdier than lambskin. I can’t speak to leather in the 11P but if it is like that in the 12A I think you will like it. The jumbo is just too big for me. I have shoulder problems (ah, the joys of aging) and have to be careful about carrying a heavy bag for any length of time. The medium CF forces me to be disciplined. But I do miss the freedom of a bag the size of a jumbo.

Haha yeah we do the minimalism act when carrying the medium.

I’ll think it over on the 11P!

Thank you so much! I really hate to sound like "that person," but I miss the old Chanel caviar so much! I find that the newer seasonal caviar just doesn't look or feel the same as it used to. My 12A jumbo is so puffy and feels so luxurious.
