Hi Chanel Enthusiasts.

I’ve stopped buying Chanel since the pandemic (who needs more bags to grow mould?). In fact, I’ve sold a handful, put into savings, and am keeping a few that I find they are classic to be kept forever (and passed down to my princess).

I’m quite a red person (my current and last cars are red lol). I have two red Chanel bags currently.

I’ve no desire to add more Chanel mainly because I feel I have been there done that (at least to me). I’ve had owned CFs of all sizes (small to maxi), reissues of all sizes (mini all the way to 227), mini rect/square, Gabrielle, vanity case, GST/PST/PTT, half moon woc/bag, black/blue/beige/white/grey/pink, and some other models I can’t even remember, etc etc. They are all lovely indeed. But I no longer feel the need to own so many and I want them to be used, regularly.

I’ve bought at least 8 medium CFs in my active C days, in SHW/LGHW/GHW. Last standing is the GHW in black caviar. It’s the most beautiful piece of CF I’ve had owned. But, I don’t use it enough. I’ve been asking myself why and I believe it’s because it looks too formal in GHW. I want to wear a CF any day. Somehow medium CF in that combo doesn’t quite gel with my weekend mode.

Then suddenly boom, I saw a 12A red medium CF. Those who know 12A, know.

Does it fit into a more casual feel? It’s SHW obviously for that season. I wear my other red CF (jumbo SHW) casually too. I don’t think I’ll be tempted with any other red however we’re talking about 12A here. Ive been keeping my eyes open on this red for years. Thought not desperately seeking but now that it appears right before me, I have a chance to consider.

Do I sell the black to get this red or have both?

Can you add a poll? I find those are fun and you might get more responses. There must be a reason you kept the black with ghw, I think you may not be done with it yet. To re-buy at these current prices are very painful. My vote is to have both because you can always use a black bag.

I have the 12a red jumbo and will never part with it - it’s one of my favorite bags of all time. Every time I take it out, it makes me smile. The caviar is just so beautiful and puffy - I feel like caviar these days just doesn’t compare. I also have multiple other CFs, including a black jumbo with SHW that I will never part with. I voted to keep both!

I vote to have both. Keep the black and get the 12A red medium CF because you chanced on it and it sounds like your holy grail.

Don't sell the black caviar GHW, it might not be in your rotation currently, but there's something special about a black CF and who knows, one day it will just be that useful again. Black can be stark, but with careful styling, it can be casual too!

Casual, I'm thinking light pink, hehehe. Total enabler here.

I was out of Chanel shopping too long before the pandemic because I thought I have everything I need already. In fact, I rarely used my Chanels, now I'm slowly falling back in love with Chanel again....

Indeed, I thought I’m really done with Chanel, especially i do not think the news can beat the olds (although my black CF is not that old. It does feel like a hardy structured piece).

And so this 12A is considered kinda old. But it’s rather in immaculate state (and I can get to inspect physically before I make my decision). Otherwise I won’t even bother.

I’ll go figure. :P

I vote to get the 12A red medium and keep the black medium also. I have the 12A red medium so I know exactly how you feel. I used to own only about 5 jumbos, 1 medium reissue, and the 12A red medium classic but I haven’t been wearing the jumbos for years so I recently got rid of them all. Just sold my last black jumbo caviar classic GHW last week. If it was the black medium I would have considered keeping it as well but it was the jumbo. However, I’m telling myself that I’m not going to let go of my 12A red medium ever hahahahah. So if you could have both black medium classic and 12A red medium that would be great! Good luck with getting the 12A red! :biggrin:

Thanks for your vote :) May I have a peek at your 12A? The piece the seller is keeping for me is #169xxxx. I believe that’s 12A (and from pics of the bag too).

Part of the reasons i think 12A red works is i only like red in SHW. To me, that’s more wearable. I have a vintage red in 24k gold plated and I don’t know how to wear it lol. But she is mine forever (and I told my sis I will pass down to her daughter next time, if she is even keen on C) and it’s also my very first C bag.

At today’s crazy C price, I think that shortlisted piece is at a very fair price point (~exactly the 2012 price). I’ll examine the bag first :)
