I totally disagree, Chanel is a classic and it fits ladies of all ages

Well, new and pre-owned Chanel is selling like hotcakes and for high prices, so I think they'll take that "old lady" label and laugh all the way to the bank! Not to mention all the dupe or copycat style handbags, tweed jackets, jewelry, etc. even from some big and well respected brands trying to cash in on the Chanel aesthetic. Like anything else, if you don't like it I'm sure there's another brand out there for you.
Yes that’s the sort of old lady I’d like to grow into...Not sure who is claiming that but I grew up and live in the south of France and Chanel has always been chic for the young and old. Nothing beats it except the understated (no twilly) Hermes bag.
Also if you knew what the “old lady” in France looks like, trust me you’d want to be that “old lady” everyday all day long!![]()
Reading the Purse blog the other day a post was about all of the Chanel bags in the show Emily in Paris. The comments in regard to Chanel was it was no longer relevant and an old lady brand. I protested in a big way. I love my Chanel bags. I was curious about others thinking on this topic.
I don't think Chanel is an old lady bag at all . It suits different ages and you can have personalized look with Classic Chanel Bags depending on your own style.
Chanel can be considered as an old lady brand because for most people ( including me ) I couldn't afford a Chanel bag in my early 20's. Usually , older ladies are more financially stable then younger ones and it's an older lady bag in that sense only.
In Paris , you see usually see Chanel bags with older ( mature ) ladies, as well in Germany you see a Porsche most often with older men!
For me , I'm in my 40's I can afford Chanel accessories (bags, shoes, etc) but Chanel clothings are over my budget.
Am I being too frank !![]()
I think it’s a matter of perspective.
Perhaps because of the price point older women were/are better able to acquire and wear Chanel, but that doesn’t mean younger women aren’t into Chanel.
Furthermore, if a 20-30 year old buys the Chanel, they will wear it til they die, so when you see tons of people in their third, fourth, fifth, sixth+ decade wearing Chanel, it makes sense that some people would associate it with old women.
It’s not like luxury cars are viewed as old lady/old man cars though. It’s a little annoying that women's products are generalized/scrutinized so much.
Not sure who is claiming that but I grew up and live in the south of France and Chanel has always been chic for the young and old. Nothing beats it except the understated (no twilly) Hermes bag.

If somebody ever tells you that your favorite brand is for old ladies, please watch and wait - there is a very high probability one day you’ll find them wearing the exact brands they once hated on and tried to shame you for appreciating.
