Do you think ceramic watches especially the white ones are a trend? Do you think no one will be wearing them in 5-10 years? I love my J12s and I'm keeping them but I feel guilty cause I don't wear them everyday like some people. I've been favoring my air king. I worry that these ceramic watches are eventually going to look dated. Perhaps I should give my air king a rest and let the others in my collection see some daylight!

I have the same concern Hokaplan. I almost returned my white J12 the day before the 30 days was up, but decided to go ahead and keep it and enjoy it. Unfortunately I have a feeling in 5-10 years they may look dated, but who knows? Everything comes back in style at some point, right? LOL

sassc - Everything comes back but often times things come back a little bit different. I'm glad you kept your white J12. Enjoy it! Which watch in your collection is your favorite?

I think it is a trend. I have seen some ceramic watches I like for much less than the J12- Swiss Legend- but didn't buy because I think it would be something I don't wear in 2 years.

Not sure. The Chanels may be a new classic. I think they have the simplicity and power of design that can make a classic.

At least I hope these watches have some staying power...I just bought a handsome but affordable type today. :smile1:

As much as I love J12, I have resisted for this reason. I went with a Bedat diamond watch instead. I like the look of the J12, though, so I got a much less expensive lookalike on Overstock.com for around $200.

jellyv - I hope the Chanels are the new classic. They do keep bringing out new styles like the marine one and the mother of pearl face. That will be awesome if it is here to stay!

Hokaplan - It's a trend but then again look at the new Chanel Premiere watch, it's coming back. So if you keep it for another 10 years, I think it will come back. :D

Well, for those who have sensitive skin and are allergic to everything, ceramic has been a blessing for me. I can't exactly afford a gold watch either so whether it's trendy or not, ceramic will be truly functional for me. I really wanted a white cermamic but my practical side said to go for the black, while it doesn't photograph well, I'm glad to have made that decision. It looks sporty and different enough where people comment on it.

Ceramic Watches are in trend since past recent years till now, Most Labels & Watchmakers Big or Small has produced their Ceramic Pieces, be it Chanel, Fendi, Emporio Armani, Tag Heuer & even Seiko etc. Just like Trend or Big Face Watches whereby Panerai are immensely popular till some models are simply out of stock. Year down the road will it become a strong evergreen & appreciate in value, no one can really tell. However as in Fashion Trend, it is always a cycle, stuffs that are Trendy today will definitely come back again in future. If you are looking for something that is more than a Fashion Trend, more for investment & value, i would suggest you go for those big names luxury labels like Patek Philippe, IWC, Rolex, Corum etc.

Ceramic watches are nice to own & wear. White is nice too but hard to maintain no matter how careful you are, Anything in white it will look yellowish tinted or dirty in time to come. I have 2 black ceramic watches too, nothing fancy nothing expensive by Fendi & Emporio Armani. Previously, Black Coated Steel/Black Gold are in Trend prior to Ceramic.

Yeah, you are probably right about that. I am glad I kept it too. I considered getting a less expensive look alike, but personally for me if I couldnt have the J12 I didnt want one at all and I would just wear my other watches in leiu of that like a Michele with a white band. My collection consists of a few Michele's and the J12. I think my favorite watch is my Michele Diamond Deco, but I love the J12 too. I dont like to mix metals so I only wear it when i am wearing white gold or silver so that was the other reason I considered returning it. I want to get a Rolex, but that is not happening right now:sad::sad:
