I agree with the people saying Fendi Peekaboo! I was stuck between the belt bag and the peekaboo, and went with the belt bag because I wanted something elevated for date nights. I'm not sure it would be good as an everyday/errands bag because of the fussy closure- it's not the easiest or most convenient to open and close frequently. I find that I lean towards my other bags for everyday lifestyle/errands, and save the belt bag for special occasions.

I vote for fendi peekaboo but I am definitely biased because I own a peekaboo mini in lambskin. It’s my least used bag because it is very delicate, and that’s why I did go and try on the essentially. It feels more hard wearing but at the same time I know the leather would soften up and become slouchier (I’m not a great fan of the super slouchy look)

It really depends how you want the use the bag. If it is for an everyday work bag, I would say go for the micro belt because it would hold more (the small opening in peekaboo is not the most convenient thing), and the textured leather is definitely more durable than fendi. Thing is, I am not a great fan of textured leather because there are many alternatives to it (like senreve maestra as mentioned by a fellow tpf member)

However, if you want a timeless and elegant bag for occasion use, peekaboo will be a better choice. It’s classy and definitely has that luxurious feel to it.

I am from HK and I can tell you Celine belt is everywhere...(and I am not a fan of the crooked tail of the belt! It doesn’t feel very “polished” or pristine...) belt bag is definitely a practical and durable bag but it just doesn’t work for me!

I looked at both of these bags and chose the mini peekaboo in black over the nano belt bag. Fendi has so many options to change the look of the peekaboo with the defender , straps and wrappy (like a twilly) that I felt it was so versatile. Also the Fendi quality in this bag felt more substantial than the Celine belt bag, but it is more pricey. I suggest going to the boutique and looking at the Fendi accessories as that is what sold me on it!

I want to use it as an everyday cross body bag (I have two boys, need my hands free!) and am afraid that Peekaboo could be a bit fragile and heavy. What do you think?
Belt bag's gros grain leather seems more durable and the nano seems a bit larger than Peekaboo, but I LOVE Peekaboo and also think it is more elegant. I saw both in their boutiques and totally agree with you, Peekaboo is so versatile!

I agree with you on the peekaboo Nappa leather being more delicate than the grained leather of the belt bag. I did buy a defender to use with it for those times I wanted to be more carefree. And I always have the option to take the defender off when I am going out to a restaurant etc. The other option is to look at the selleria leather in the mini peekaboo. They have a gorgeous taupe color w a python handle and that leather has a different texture like the belt bag but softer. I didn’t find the mini peekaboo to be heavy but I think as you go up in size that it would be a concern.
I did get a fendi strap me which is a thicker strap and for some reason I feel like the thicker strap is more comfortable on the shoulder than the thinner straps that both bags have.
I love both bags though and don’t see them so much in my city (Dallas) and that attracted it to me also. This was my Christmas present from my husband and I liked that the peekaboo had so many accessories that I can add to my wishlist for future birthdays etc. the silk wrappys, the coordinating straps, and even the baguette bag charms made me convinced I could change the look of this bag season to season. Plus it made it easy for my husband for future gift giving lol! Good luck w your choice! Both bags are amazing!!!

Overall, I would say peekaboo because I think it is more beautiful than the belt bag (and I do love the belt bag), and more timeless.

That said, if you are going to throw it on all the time, wear it crossbody, and want something durable then I can’t help but think the belt bag is the right choice for that.

I own the peekaboo essentially and it is my favorite bag ever. Just stunning. When I wear it I feel like a million bucks. But that means I feel FANCY, and the belt bag is something I would wear for more types of errands and when I want to look more casual.

Good luck with your decision!

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer and give so many details!

Wow, how do you feel with your brand new Peekaboo?? ☺️ What a great Christmas present! It is so nice to have the possibility to change the bag with the straps, wrappys... I am sure you will enjoy using it in so many different ways and occasions!

The selleria leather is a good idea, it would be more appropriate, but I do prefer the Nappa leather... I think it looks so chic!
I live in Europe and have never seen a defender in my area, so I am not very familiar with it. How do you use it? Is it for traveling, rainy days etc or you just use it the same way you would use the bag without it?

I went to both boutiques AGAIN yesterday and took photos with the bags. I will create a new post with them (before I was unable to do it as a new member).
Many thanks for your help!

Hi, thank you very much for your input!

You got exactly what is my dilemma!
I also think that the Peekaboo is more beautiful than the Belt bag, but I am planning to purchase an everyday bag to use crossbody, to go on errands, pick my son up at school and then go to a playground... And the Belt bag is probably more appropriate for that. On the other hand, in few years my sons will be older, my life will be different and the Peekaboo would be more versatile. Normally when we buy a designer bag, we think in the long term... That's why I am so hesitant to choose! I don't know if I should give priority to my current life style or not.

Btw I think the Peekaboo essentially is also gorgeous and totally understand your feeling when you wear it!!! ☺️

The defender for the mini peekaboo comes in two options at my boutique. Both have the Fendi logo but one is a mesh type fabric and one is a coated fabric. I chose the coated fabric as it would offer more protection than the mesh. Yes, I would snap the defender on the peekaboo when I want to use for travel or grocery shopping etc. Any place where I don't want to have to baby the bag too much. I also have the wider logo strap but I think that wearing that strap w/ the defender bag is too much logo. Unfortunately right now due to covid I haven't gone anywhere special to enjoy the bag but I am still happy with my purchase. The defender can be seen on the Fendi website and if you search on youtube you can see some video reviews about it. :)

Which one did you end up deciding on, OP? I am having the exact same dilemma - a peekaboo essentially in beige vs. a Celine belt micro in light taupe. The colors and the size are very similar. I think the Celine belt bag is more durable but I honestly don’t know if I will wear it that much because the shoulder strap is not adjustable and the closure is quite annoying. I own a peekaboo medium (my very first designer bag actually) and know that peekaboo bags are very versatile, so I might go for the peekaboo essentially... it just makes my heart sing whenever I look at it.
